² H6213And he wrought[H8799] H7451evilH5869in the sightH3068of the LORDH1; but not like his fatherH517, and like his motherH5493: for he put away[H8686] H4676the imageH1168of BaalH1that his fatherH6213had made[H8804] .

³ H1692Nevertheless he cleaved[H8804] H2403unto the sinsH3379of JeroboamH1121the sonH5028of NebatH3478, which made IsraelH2398to sin[H8689] H5493; he departed[H8804]  not therefrom.

⁴ H4338And MeshaH4428kingH4124of MoabH5349was a sheepmasterH7725, and rendered[H8689] H4428unto the kingH3478of IsraelH3967an hundredH505thousandH3733lambsH3967, and an hundredH505thousandH352ramsH6785, with the wool.

⁵ H256But it came to pass, when AhabH4194was deadH4428, that the kingH4124of MoabH6586rebelled[H8799] H4428against the kingH3478of Israel.

⁶ H4428And kingH3088JehoramH3318went out[H8799] H8111of SamariaH3117the same timeH6485, and numbered[H8799] H3478all Israel.

⁷ H3212And he went[H8799] H7971and sent[H8799] H3092to JehoshaphatH4428the kingH3063of JudahH559, saying[H8800] H4428, The kingH4124of MoabH6586hath rebelled[H8804] H3212against me: wilt thou go[H8799] H4124with me against MoabH4421to battleH559? And he said[H8799] H5927, I will go up[H8799] H5971: I am as thou art, my peopleH5971as thy peopleH5483, and my horsesH5483as thy horses.

⁸ H559And he said[H8799] H1870, Which wayH5927shall we go up[H8799] H559? And he answered[H8799] H1870, The wayH4057through the wildernessH123of Edom.

⁹ H4428So the kingH3478of IsraelH3212went[H8799] H4428, and the kingH3063of JudahH4428, and the kingH123of EdomH5437: and they fetched a compass[H8799] H7651of sevenH3117daysH1870' journeyH4325: and there was no waterH4264for the hostH929, and for the cattleH7272that followed them.

¹⁰ H4428And the kingH3478of IsraelH559said[H8799] H162, AlasH3068! that the LORDH7121hath calledH7969these threeH4428kingsH7121together[H8804] H5414, to deliver[H8800] H3027them into the handH4124of Moab!

¹¹ H3092But JehoshaphatH559said[H8799] H5030, Is there not here a prophetH3068of the LORDH1875, that we may enquire[H8799] H3068of the LORDH259by him? And oneH4428of the kingH3478of Israel'sH5650servantsH6030answered[H8799] H559and said[H8799] H477, Here is ElishaH1121the sonH8202of ShaphatH3332, which poured[H8804] H4325waterH3027on the handsH452of Elijah.

¹² H3092And JehoshaphatH559said[H8799] H1697, The wordH3068of the LORDH3426isH4428with him. So the kingH3478of IsraelH3092and JehoshaphatH4428and the kingH123of EdomH3381went down[H8799]  to him.

¹³ H477And ElishaH559said[H8799] H4428unto the kingH3478of IsraelH3212, What have I to do with thee? get[H8798] H5030thee to the prophetsH1of thy fatherH5030, and to the prophetsH517of thy motherH4428. And the kingH3478of IsraelH559said[H8799] H3068unto him, Nay: for the LORDH7121hath calledH7969these threeH4428kingsH7121together[H8804] H5414, to deliver[H8800] H3027them into the handH4124of Moab.

¹⁴ H477And ElishaH559said[H8799] H3068, As the LORDH6635of hostsH2416livethH6440, beforeH5975whom I stand[H8804] H3884, surely, were it not thatH5375I regard[H8802] H6440the presenceH3092of JehoshaphatH4428the kingH3063of JudahH5027, I would not look[H8686] H7200toward thee, nor see[H8799]  thee.

¹⁵ H3947But now bring[H8798] H5059me a minstrel[H8764] H5059. And it came to pass, when the minstrel[H8764] H5059played[H8763] H3027, that the handH3068of the LORD came upon him.

¹⁶ H559And he said[H8799] H559, Thus saith[H8804] H3068the LORDH6213, Make[H8800] H5158this valleyH1356full of ditches.

¹⁷ H559For thus saith[H8804] H3068the LORDH7200, Ye shall not see[H8799] H7307windH7200, neither shall ye see[H8799] H1653rainH5158; yet that valleyH4390shall be filled[H8735] H4325with waterH8354, that ye may drink[H8804] H4735, both ye, and your cattleH929, and your beasts.

¹⁸ H7043And this is but a light thing[H8738] H5869in the sightH3068of the LORDH5414: he will deliver[H8804] H4124the MoabitesH3027also into your hand.

¹⁹ H5221And ye shall smite[H8689] H4013every fencedH5892cityH4004, and every choiceH5892cityH5307, and shall fell[H8686] H2896every goodH6086treeH5640, and stop[H8799] H4599all wellsH4325of waterH3510, and mar[H8686] H2896every goodH2513pieceH68of land with stones.

²⁰ H1242And it came to pass in the morningH4503, when the meat offeringH5927was offered[H8800] H935, that, behold, there came[H8802] H4325waterH1870by the wayH123of EdomH776, and the countryH4390was filled[H8735] H4325with water.

²¹ H4124And when all the MoabitesH8085heard[H8804] H4428that the kingsH5927were come up[H8804] H3898to fight[H8736] H6817against them, they gathered[H8735] H2296all that were able to put[H8802] H2290on armourH4605, and upwardH5975, and stood[H8799] H1366in the border.

²² H7925And they rose up early[H8686] H1242in the morningH8121, and the sunH2224shone[H8804] H4325upon the waterH4124, and the MoabitesH7200saw[H8799] H4325the waterH5048on the other sideH122as redH1818as blood:

²³ H559And they said[H8799] H1818, This is bloodH4428: the kingsH2717are surely[H8715] H2717slain[H8738] H5221, and they have smitten[H8686] H376oneH7453anotherH4124: now therefore, MoabH7998, to the spoil.

²⁴ H935And when they came[H8799] H4264to the campH3478of IsraelH3478, the IsraelitesH6965rose up[H8799] H5221and smote[H8686] H4124the MoabitesH5127, so that they fled[H8799] H6440beforeH5221them: but they went forward[H8686] H5221smiting[H8687] H4124the Moabites, even in their country.

²⁶ H4428And when the kingH4124of MoabH7200saw[H8799] H4421that the battleH2388was too sore[H8804] H3947for him, he took[H8799] H7651with him sevenH3967hundredH376menH8025that drew[H8802] H2719swordsH1234, to break through[H8687] H4428even unto the kingH123of EdomH3201: but they could[H8804]  not.

²⁷ H3947Then he took[H8799] H1060his eldestH1121sonH4427that should have reigned[H8799] H5927in his stead, and offered[H8686] H5930him for a burnt offeringH2346upon the wallH1419. And there was greatH7110indignationH3478against IsraelH5265: and they departed[H8799] H7725from him, and returned[H8799] H776to their own land.
