² H6213And he did[H8799] H7451that which was evilH5869in the sightH3068of the LORDH4428, but not as the kingsH3478of IsraelH6440that were before him.

³ H5927Against him came up[H8804] H8022ShalmaneserH4428kingH804of AssyriaH1954; and HosheaH5650became his servantH7725, and gave[H8686] H4503him presents.

⁴ H4428And the kingH804of AssyriaH4672found[H8799] H7195conspiracyH1954in HosheaH7971: for he had sent[H8804] H4397messengersH5471to SoH4428kingH4714of EgyptH5927, and brought[H8689] H4503no presentH4428to the kingH804of AssyriaH8141, as he had done yearH8141by yearH4428: therefore the kingH804of AssyriaH6113shut him up[H8799] H631, and bound[H8799] H1004him in prisonH3608 .

⁵ H4428Then the kingH804of AssyriaH5927came up[H8799] H776throughout all the landH5927, and went up[H8799] H8111to SamariaH6696, and besieged[H8799] H7969it threeH8141years.

⁶ H8671In the ninthH8141yearH1954of HosheaH4428the kingH804of AssyriaH3920took[H8804] H8111SamariaH1540, and carriedH3478IsraelH1540away[H8686] H804into AssyriaH3427, and placed[H8686] H2477them in HalahH2249and in HaborH5104by the riverH1470of GozanH5892, and in the citiesH4074of the Medes.

⁷ H1121For so it was, that the childrenH3478of IsraelH2398had sinned[H8804] H3068against the LORDH430their GodH5927, which had brought them up[H8688] H776out of the landH4714of EgyptH3027, from under the handH6547of PharaohH4428kingH4714of EgyptH3372, and had feared[H8799] H312otherH430gods,

⁸ H3212And walked[H8799] H2708in the statutesH1471of the heathenH3068, whom the LORDH3423cast out[H8689] H6440from beforeH1121the childrenH3478of IsraelH4428, and of the kingsH3478of IsraelH6213, which they had made[H8804] .

⁹ H1121And the childrenH3478of IsraelH2644did secretly[H8762] H1697those thingsH3068that were not right against the LORDH430their GodH1129, and they built[H8799] H1116them high placesH5892in all their citiesH4026, from the towerH5341of the watchmen[H8802] H4013to the fencedH5892city.

¹⁰ H5324And they set them up[H8686] H4676imagesH842and grovesH1364in every highH1389hillH7488, and under every greenH6086tree:

¹¹ H6999And there they burnt incense[H8762] H1116in all the high placesH1471, as did the heathenH3068whom the LORDH1540carried away[H8689] H6440beforeH6213them; and wrought[H8799] H7451wickedH1697thingsH3068to provoke the LORDH3707to anger[H8687] :

¹² H5647For they served[H8799] H1544idolsH3068, whereof the LORDH559had said[H8804] H6213unto them, Ye shall not do[H8799] H1697this thing.

¹³ H3068Yet the LORDH5749testified[H8686] H3478against IsraelH3063, and against JudahH3027, byH5030all the prophetsH2374, and by all the seersH559, saying[H8800] H7725, Turn[H8798] H7451ye from your evilH1870waysH8104, and keep[H8798] H4687my commandmentsH2708and my statutesH8451, according to all the lawH6680which I commanded[H8765] H1your fathersH7971, and which I sent[H8804] H3027to you byH5650my servantsH5030the prophets.

¹⁴ H8085Notwithstanding they would not hear[H8804] H7185, but hardened[H8686] H6203their necksH6203, like to the neckH1of their fathersH539, that did not believe[H8689] H3068in the LORDH430their God.

¹⁵ H3988And they rejected[H8799] H2706his statutesH1285, and his covenantH3772that he made[H8804] H1with their fathersH5715, and his testimoniesH5749which he testified[H8689] H3212against them; and they followed[H8799] H310 H1892vanityH1891, and became vain[H8799] H310, and went afterH1471the heathenH5439that were round aboutH3068them, concerning whom the LORDH6680had charged[H8765] H6213them, that they should not do[H8800]  like them.

¹⁶ H5800And they left[H8799] H4687all the commandmentsH3068of the LORDH430their GodH6213, and made[H8799] H4541them molten imagesH8147, even twoH5695calvesH6213, and made[H8799] H842a groveH7812, and worshipped[H8691] H6635all the hostH8064of heavenH5647, and served[H8799] H1168Baal.

¹⁷ H1121And they caused their sonsH1323and their daughtersH5674to pass[H8686] H784through the fireH7080, and used[H8799] H7081divinationH5172and enchantments[H8762] H4376, and sold[H8691] H6213themselves to do[H8800] H7451evilH5869in the sightH3068of the LORDH3707, to provoke him to anger[H8687] .

¹⁸ H3068Therefore the LORDH3966was veryH599angry[H8691] H3478with IsraelH5493, and removed[H8686] H6440them out of his sightH7604: there was none left[H8738] H7626but the tribeH3063of Judah only.

¹⁹ H3063Also JudahH8104kept[H8804] H4687not the commandmentsH3068of the LORDH430their GodH3212, but walked[H8799] H2708in the statutesH3478of IsraelH6213which they made[H8804] .

²⁰ H3068And the LORDH3988rejected[H8799] H2233all the seedH3478of IsraelH6031, and afflicted[H8762] H5414them, and delivered[H8799] H3027them into the handH8154of spoilers[H8802] H7993, until he had cast[H8689] H6440them out of his sight.

²¹ H7167For he rent[H8804] H3478IsraelH1004from the houseH1732of DavidH3379; and they made JeroboamH1121the sonH5028of NebatH4427king[H8686] H3379: and JeroboamH5080drave[H8686] [H8675] H5077 [H8686] H3478IsraelH310from followingH3068the LORDH2398, and made them sin[H8689] H1419a greatH2401sin.

²² H1121For the childrenH3478of IsraelH3212walked[H8799] H2403in all the sinsH3379of JeroboamH6213which he did[H8804] H5493; they departed[H8804]  not from them;

²³ H3068Until the LORDH5493removed[H8689] H3478IsraelH6440out of his sightH1696, as he had said[H8765] H3027byH5650all his servantsH5030the prophetsH3478. So was IsraelH1540carried away[H8799] H127out of their own landH804to AssyriaH3117unto this day.

²⁴ H4428And the kingH804of AssyriaH935brought[H8686] H894men from BabylonH3575, and from CuthahH5755, and from AvaH2574, and from HamathH5617, and from SepharvaimH3427, and placed[H8686] H5892them in the citiesH8111of SamariaH1121instead of the childrenH3478of IsraelH3423: and they possessed[H8799] H8111SamariaH3427, and dwelt[H8799] H5892in the cities thereof.

²⁵ H8462And so it was at the beginningH3427of their dwelling[H8800] H3372there, that they feared[H8804] H3068not the LORDH3068: therefore the LORDH7971sent[H8762] H738lionsH2026among them, which slew[H8802]  some of them.

²⁶ H559Wherefore they spake[H8799] H4428to the kingH804of AssyriaH559, saying[H8800] H1471, The nationsH1540which thou hast removed[H8689] H3427, and placed[H8686] H5892in the citiesH8111of SamariaH3045, know[H8804] H4941not the mannerH430of the GodH776of the landH7971: therefore he hath sent[H8762] H738lionsH4191among them, and, behold, they slay[H8688] H3045them, because they know[H8802] H4941not the mannerH430of the GodH776of the land.

²⁷ H4428Then the kingH804of AssyriaH6680commanded[H8762] H559, saying[H8800] H3212, Carry[H8685] H259thither oneH3548of the priestsH1540whom ye brought[H8689] H3212from thence; and let them go[H8799] H3427and dwell[H8799] H3384there, and let him teach[H8686] H4941them the mannerH430of the GodH776of the land.

²⁸ H259Then oneH3548of the priestsH1540whom they had carried away[H8689] H8111from SamariaH935came[H8799] H3427and dwelt[H8799] H1008in BethelH3384, and taught[H8688] H3372them how they should fear[H8799] H3068the LORD.

²⁹ H1471Howbeit every nationH6213made[H8802] H430godsH3240of their own, and put[H8686] H1004them in the housesH1116of the high placesH8118which the SamaritansH6213had made[H8804] H1471, every nationH5892in their citiesH3427wherein they dwelt[H8802] .

³⁰ H582And the menH894of BabylonH6213made[H8804] H5524SuccothbenothH582, and the menH3575of CuthH6213made[H8804] H5370NergalH582, and the menH2574of HamathH6213made[H8804] H807Ashima,

³¹ H5757And the AvitesH6213made[H8804] H5026NibhazH8662and TartakH5616, and the SepharvitesH8313burnt[H8802] H1121their childrenH784in fireH152to AdrammelechH6048and AnammelechH430, the godsH5617of Sepharvaim.

³² H3373So they fearedH3068the LORDH6213, and made[H8799] H7098unto themselves of the lowestH3548of them priestsH1116of the high placesH6213, which sacrificed[H8802] H1004for them in the housesH1116of the high places.

³³ H3373They fearedH3068the LORDH5647, and served[H8802] H430their own godsH4941, after the mannerH1471of the nationsH1540whom they carried away[H8689]  from thence.

³⁴ H3117Unto this dayH6213they do[H8802] H7223after the formerH4941mannersH3373: they fearH3068not the LORDH6213, neither do[H8802] H2708they after their statutesH4941, or after their ordinancesH8451, or after the lawH4687and commandmentH3068which the LORDH6680commanded[H8765] H1121the childrenH3290of JacobH7760, whom he named[H8804] H8034 H3478Israel;

³⁵ H3068With whom the LORDH3772had made[H8799] H1285a covenantH6680, and charged[H8762] H559them, saying[H8800] H3372, Ye shall not fear[H8799] H312otherH430godsH7812, nor bow[H8691] H5647yourselves to them, nor serve[H8799] H2076them, nor sacrifice[H8799]  to them:

³⁶ H3068But the LORDH5927, who brought you up[H8689] H776out of the landH4714of EgyptH1419with greatH3581powerH5186and a stretched out[H8803] H2220armH3372, him shall ye fear[H8799] H7812, and him shall ye worship[H8691] H2076, and to him shall ye do sacrifice[H8799] .

³⁷ H2706And the statutesH4941, and the ordinancesH8451, and the lawH4687, and the commandmentH3789, which he wrote[H8804] H8104for you, ye shall observe[H8799] H6213to do[H8800] H3117for evermoreH3372; and ye shall not fear[H8799] H312otherH430gods.

³⁸ H1285And the covenantH3772that I have made[H8804] H7911with you ye shall not forget[H8799] H3372; neither shall ye fear[H8799] H312otherH430gods.

³⁹ H3068But the LORDH430your GodH3372ye shall fear[H8799] H5337; and he shall deliver[H8686] H3027you out of the handH341of all your enemies[H8802] .

⁴⁰ H8085Howbeit they did not hearken[H8804] H6213, but they did[H8802] H7223after their formerH4941manner.

⁴¹ H1471So these nationsH3373fearedH3068the LORDH5647, and served[H8802] H6456their graven imagesH1121, both their childrenH1121, and their children'sH1121childrenH6213: as did[H8804] H1their fathersH6213, so do[H8802] H3117they unto this day.
