³ H1121And his sonsH1980walked[H8804] H1870not in his waysH5186, but turned aside[H8799] H310afterH1215lucreH3947, and took[H8799] H7810bribesH5186, and perverted[H8686] H4941judgment.

⁴ H2205Then all the eldersH3478of IsraelH6908gathered themselves together[H8691] H935, and came[H8799] H8050to SamuelH7414unto Ramah,

⁵ H559And said[H8799] H2204unto him, Behold, thou art old[H8804] H1121, and thy sonsH1980walk[H8804] H1870not in thy waysH7760: now make[H8798] H4428us a kingH8199to judge[H8800] H1471us like all the nations.

⁶ H1697But the thingH3415displeased[H8799] H5869 H8050SamuelH559, when they said[H8804] H5414, Give[H8798] H4428us a kingH8199to judge[H8800] H8050us. And SamuelH6419prayed[H8691] H3068unto the LORD.

⁷ H3068And the LORDH559said[H8799] H8050unto SamuelH8085, Hearken[H8798] H6963unto the voiceH5971of the peopleH559in all that they say[H8799] H3988unto thee: for they have not rejected[H8804] H3988thee, but they have rejected[H8804] H4427me, that I should not reign[H8800]  over them.

⁸ H4639According to all the worksH6213which they have done[H8804] H3117since the dayH5927that I brought them up[H8687] H4714out of EgyptH3117even unto this dayH5800, wherewith they have forsaken[H8799] H5647me, and served[H8799] H312otherH430godsH6213, so do[H8802]  they also unto thee.

⁹ H8085Now therefore hearken[H8798] H6963unto their voiceH389: howbeitH5749yet protest[H8686] H5749solemnly[H8687] H5046unto them, and shew[H8689] H4941them the mannerH4428of the kingH4427that shall reign[H8799]  over them.

¹⁰ H8050And SamuelH559told[H8799] H1697all the wordsH3068of the LORDH5971unto the peopleH7592that asked[H8802] H4428of him a king.

¹¹ H559And he said[H8799] H4941, This will be the mannerH4428of the kingH4427that shall reign[H8799] H3947over you: He will take[H8799] H1121your sonsH7760, and appoint[H8804] H4818them for himself, for his chariotsH6571, and to be his horsemenH7323; and some shall run[H8804] H6440beforeH4818his chariots.

¹² H7760And he will appoint[H8800] H8269him captainsH505over thousandsH8269, and captainsH2572over fiftiesH2790; and will set them to ear[H8800] H2758his groundH7114, and to reap[H8800] H7105his harvestH6213, and to make[H8800] H3627his instrumentsH4421of warH3627, and instrumentsH7393of his chariots.

¹³ H3947And he will take[H8799] H1323your daughtersH7548to be confectionariesH2879, and to be cooksH644, and to be bakers[H8802] .

¹⁴ H3947And he will take[H8799] H7704your fieldsH3754, and your vineyardsH2132, and your oliveyardsH2896, even the bestH5414of them, and give[H8804] H5650them to his servants.

¹⁵ H6237And he will take the tenth[H8799] H2233of your seedH3754, and of your vineyardsH5414, and give[H8804] H5631to his officersH5650, and to his servants.

¹⁶ H3947And he will take[H8799] H5650your menservantsH8198, and your maidservantsH2896, and your goodliestH970young menH2543, and your assesH6213, and put[H8804] H4399them to his work.

¹⁷ H6237He will take the tenth[H8799] H6629of your sheepH5650: and ye shall be his servants.

²⁰ H1471That we also may be like all the nationsH4428; and that our kingH8199may judge[H8804] H3318us, and go out[H8804] H6440beforeH3898us, and fight[H8738] H4421our battles.

²¹ H8050And SamuelH8085heard[H8799] H1697all the wordsH5971of the peopleH1696, and he rehearsed[H8762] H241them in the earsH3068of the LORD.

²² H3068And the LORDH559said[H8799] H8050to SamuelH8085, Hearken[H8798] H6963unto their voiceH4427, and make[H8689] H4428them a kingH8050. And SamuelH559said[H8799] H582unto the menH3478of IsraelH3212, Go[H8798] H376ye every manH5892unto his city.
