Samuel 18 - King James Bible with Strong Numbers

H3615And it came to pass, when he had made an end[H8763] H1696of speaking[H8763] H7586unto SaulH5315, that the soulH3083of JonathanH7194was knit[H8738] H5315with the soulH1732of DavidH3083, and JonathanH157loved[H8799] H5315him as his own soul.

H7586And SaulH3947took[H8799] H3117him that dayH5414, and would let[H8804] H7725him go no more home[H8800] H1to his father'sH1004house.

H3083Then JonathanH1732and DavidH3772made[H8799] H1285a covenantH160, because he lovedH5315him as his own soul.

H3083And JonathanH6584stripped[H8691] H4598himself of the robeH5414that was upon him, and gave[H8799] H1732it to DavidH4055, and his garmentsH2719, even to his swordH7198, and to his bowH2289, and to his girdle.

H1732And DavidH3318went out[H8799] H7586whithersoever SaulH7971sent[H8799] H7919him, and behaved himself wisely[H8686] H7586: and SaulH7760set[H8799] H582him over the menH4421of warH3190, and he was accepted[H8799] H5869in the sightH5971of all the peopleH5869, and also in the sightH7586of Saul'sH5650servants.

H935And it came to pass as they came[H8800] H1732, when DavidH7725was returned[H8800] H5221from the slaughter[H8687] H6430of the PhilistineH802, that the womenH3318came out[H8799] H5892of all citiesH3478of IsraelH7891, singing[H8800] H4246and dancingH7125, to meet[H8800] H4428kingH7586SaulH8596, with tabretsH8057, with joyH7991, and with instruments of musick.

H802And the womenH6030answered[H8799] H7832one another as they played[H8764] H559, and said[H8799] H7586, SaulH5221hath slain[H8689] H505his thousandsH1732, and DavidH7233his ten thousands.

H7586And SaulH3966was veryH2734wroth[H8799] H1697, and the sayingH3415displeased[H8799] H5869 H559him; and he said[H8799] H5414, They have ascribed[H8804] H1732unto DavidH7233ten thousandsH5414, and to me they have ascribed[H8804] H505but thousandsH4410: and what can he have more but the kingdom?

H7586And SaulH5770eyed[H8802] H1732DavidH3117from that dayH1973and forward.

H4283And it came to pass on the morrowH7451, that the evilH7307spiritH430from GodH6743came[H8799] H7586upon SaulH5012, and he prophesied[H8691] H8432in the midstH1004of the houseH1732: and DavidH5059played[H8764] H3027with his handH3117, as at other timesH2595: and there was a javelinH7586in Saul'sH3027hand.

H7586And SaulH2904cast[H8686] H2595the javelinH559; for he said[H8799] H5221, I will smite[H8686] H1732DavidH7023even to the wallH1732with it . And DavidH5437avoided out[H8735] H6440of his presenceH6471twice.

H7586And SaulH3372was afraid[H8799] H6440ofH1732DavidH3068, because the LORDH5493was with him, and was departed[H8804] H7586from Saul.

H7586Therefore SaulH5493removed[H8686] H7760him from him, and made[H8799] H8269him his captainH505over a thousandH3318; and he went out[H8799] H935and came in[H8799] H6440beforeH5971the people.

H1732And DavidH7919behaved himself wisely[H8688] H1870in all his waysH3068; and the LORD was with him.

H7586Wherefore when SaulH7200saw[H8799] H7919that he behavedH3966himself veryH7919wisely[H8688] H1481, he was afraid[H8799] H6440of him.

H3478But all IsraelH3063and JudahH157loved[H8802] H1732DavidH3318, because he went out[H8802] H935and came in[H8802] H6440before them.

H7586And SaulH559said[H8799] H1732to DavidH1419, Behold my elderH1323daughterH4764MerabH5414, her will I give[H8799] H802thee to wifeH1121: only be thou valiantH2428 H3898for me, and fight[H8734] H3068the LORD'SH4421battlesH7586. For SaulH559said[H8804] H3027, Let not mine handH3027be upon him, but let the handH6430of the Philistines be upon him.

H1732And DavidH559said[H8799] H7586unto SaulH2416, Who am I? and what is my lifeH1, or my father'sH4940familyH3478in IsraelH2860, that I should be son in lawH4428to the king?

H6256But it came to pass at the timeH4764when MerabH7586Saul'sH1323daughterH5414should have been given[H8800] H1732to DavidH5414, that she was given[H8738] H5741unto AdrielH4259the MeholathiteH802to wife.

H4324And MichalH7586Saul'sH1323daughterH157loved[H8799] H1732DavidH5046: and they told[H8686] H7586SaulH1697, and the thingH3474pleased[H8799] H5869  him.

H7586And SaulH559said[H8799] H5414, I will give[H8799] H4170him her, that she may be a snareH3027to him, and that the handH6430of the PhilistinesH7586may be against him. Wherefore SaulH559said[H8799] H1732to DavidH3117, Thou shalt this dayH2859be my son in law[H8691] H8147in the one of the twain.

H7586And SaulH6680commanded[H8762] H5650his servantsH1696, saying, Commune[H8761] H1732with DavidH3909secretlyH559, and say[H8800] H4428, Behold, the kingH2654hath delight[H8804] H5650in thee, and all his servantsH157love[H8804] H4428thee: now therefore be the king'sH2859son in law[H8690] .

H7586And Saul'sH5650servantsH1696spake[H8762] H1697those wordsH241in the earsH1732of DavidH1732. And DavidH559said[H8799] H5869, SeemethH7043it to you a light[H8738] H4428thing to be a king'sH2859son in law[H8692] H7326, seeing that I am a poor[H8802] H376manH7034, and lightly esteemed[H8737] ?

H5650And the servantsH7586of SaulH5046told[H8686] H559him, saying[H8800] H1697, On this mannerH1696spake[H8765] H1732David.

H7586And SaulH559said[H8799] H559, Thus shall ye say[H8799] H1732to DavidH4428, The kingH2656desirethH4119not any dowryH3967, but an hundredH6190foreskinsH6430of the PhilistinesH5358, to be avenged[H8736] H4428of the king'sH341enemies[H8802] H7586. But SaulH2803thought[H8804] H1732to make DavidH5307fall[H8687] H3027by the handH6430of the Philistines.

H5650And when his servantsH5046told[H8686] H1732DavidH1697these wordsH3474, it pleased[H8799] H1697 H5869 H1732DavidH4428well to be the king'sH2859son in law[H8692] H3117: and the daysH4390were not expired[H8804] .

H1732Wherefore DavidH6965arose[H8799] H3212and went[H8799] H582, he and his menH5221, and slew[H8686] H6430of the PhilistinesH3967two hundredH376menH1732; and DavidH935brought[H8686] H6190their foreskinsH4390, and they gave them in full tale[H8762] H4428to the kingH4428, that he might be the king'sH2859son in law[H8692] H7586. And SaulH5414gave[H8799] H4324him MichalH1323his daughterH802to wife.

H7586And SaulH7200saw[H8799] H3045and knew[H8799] H3068that the LORDH1732was with DavidH4324, and that MichalH7586Saul'sH1323daughterH157loved[H8804]  him.

H7586And SaulH3254was yet the more[H8686] H3372afraid[H8800] H6440ofH1732DavidH7586; and SaulH1732became David'sH341enemy[H8802] H3117continually.

H8269Then the princesH6430of the PhilistinesH3318went forth[H8799] H1767: and it came to pass, afterH3318they went forth[H8800] H1732, that DavidH7919behaved himself more wisely[H8804] H5650than all the servantsH7586of SaulH8034; so that his nameH3966was muchH3365set by[H8799] .
