Psalm 80 - Easy To Read Version

¹ Shepherd of Israel, please listen to me.\par You lead Joseph’s sheep (people).\par You sit as king on the Cherub angels. {\cf2\super [459]} \par Let us see you.\par

² Shepherd of Israel, show your greatness\par to Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh.\par Come and save us.\par

³ God, accept us again.\par Accept us. Save us!\par

⁴ Lord God All-Powerful,\par when will you listen to our prayers?\par Will you be angry at us forever?\par

⁵ You have given tears as food to your people.\par You have given your people bowls\par filled with their tears.\par That was their water to drink.\par

⁶ You let us become something for our neighbors to fight about.\par Our enemies laugh at us.\par

⁷ God All-Powerful, accept us again.\par Accept us. Save us.\par

⁸ \{In the past, you treated us like\par a very important plant.\}\par You brought your “vine” out of Egypt.\par You forced other people to leave this land,\par and you planted your “vine” here.\par

⁹ You prepared the ground for the “vine.”\par You helped its roots to grow strong.\par Soon the “vine” spread throughout\par the land.\par

¹⁰ It covered the mountains.\par Its leaves shaded even the giant cedar trees.\par

¹¹ Its vines spread to the Mediterranean Sea.\par Its shoots spread to the Euphrates River.\par

¹² God, why did you pull down the walls\par that protect your “vine”?\par Now every person who passes by\par picks its grapes.\par

¹³ Wild pigs come and walk on your “vine.”\par Wild animals come and eat the leaves.\par

¹⁴ God All-Powerful, come back.\par Look down from heaven at your “vine”\par and protect it.\par

¹⁵ God, look at the “vine” you planted\par with your own hands.\par Look at the young plant {\cf2\super [460]} you raised.\par

¹⁶ Your “vine” was burned in the fire\par like dry dung.\par You were angry at it and destroyed it.\par

¹⁷ God, reach out to the son\par who stood by your right side.\par Reach out to the son you raised.\par

¹⁸ He will not leave you again.\par Let him live,\par and he will worship your name.\par

¹⁹ Lord God All-Powerful, come back to us.\par Accept us. Save us.\par
