Amos 9 - Easy To Read Version1 This is the vision {\cf2\super [1]} of Obadiah. The Lord my Master says this about Edom: {\cf2\super [2]} 2 “Edom, {\cf2\super [3]} I will make you the smallest nation.\par Everyone will hate you very much.\par 3 If they hide at the top of Mount Carmel, {\cf2\super [112]} \par I will find them there,\par and I will take them from that place.\par If they try to hide from me\par at the bottom of the sea,\par I will command the snake,\par and it will bite them.\par 4 If they are captured\par and taken away by their enemies,\par I will command the sword,\par and it will kill them there.\par Yes, I will watch over them,\par but I will watch for ways\par to give them troubles,\par not for ways to do good things.”\par 5 My Master, the Lord All-Powerful,\par will touch the land,\par and the land will melt.\par Then all the people that live in the land\par will cry for the dead people.\par The land will rise and fall\par like the Nile River in Egypt.\par 6 The Lord built his upper rooms\par above the skies.\par He put his skies {\cf2\super [113]} over the earth.\par He calls for the waters of the sea,\par and pours them out \{as rain\} on the land.\par YAHWEH {\cf2\super [114]} is his name.\par 7 The Lord says this: 8 The Lord my Master is watching\par the sinful kingdom (Israel).\par The Lord said,\par “I will wipe \{Israel\} off the face of the earth.\par But I will never completely destroy\par Jacob’s family.\par 9 I am giving the command\par \{to destroy the nation Israel\}.\par I will scatter the people of Israel\par among all nations.\par But it will be like a person \{sifting flour\}.\par A person shakes flour through a sifter. {\cf2\super [117]} \par \{The good flour falls through,\}\par but the bad lumps are caught.\par \{It will be that way with Jacob’s family.\}\par 10 You will be covered with shame,\par and you will be destroyed forever.\par Why? Because you were very cruel\par to your brother Jacob. {\cf2\super [8]} \par 11 “David’s tent {\cf2\super [118]} has fallen,\par but at that time,\par I will set his tent up again.\par I will fix the holes in the walls.\par I will build the ruined buildings again.\par I will build it like it was before.\par 12 {\cf2\super [119]} Then the people left alive in Edom,\par and all the people called by my name,\par will look to the Lord \{for help\}.”\par The Lord said those things,\par and he will make them happen.\par 13 The Lord says,\par “The time is coming when\par the person plowing the field,\par will catch up with the person\par harvesting the crops.\par The person that walks on the grapes,\par will catch up with the person\par that pulls the grapes from the plants.\par The sweet wine will pour\par from the hills and mountains.\par 14 I will bring my people, Israel,\par back from captivity.\par They will build the ruined cities again.\par And they will live in those cities.\par They will plant fields of grapes,\par and drink the wine they produce.\par They will plant gardens,\par and eat the crops they produce.\par 15 I will plant my people\par on their land.\par And they will never again\par be pulled up out of the land\par that I have given them.”\par The Lord your God said these things.\par |
