Haven’t you heard how I have done it long ago, and formed it of ancient times? Now I have brought it to pass, that it should be yours to lay waste fortified cities into ruinous heaps.


The burden of Damascus. “Look, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it will be a ruinous heap.


For you have made a city into a heap, a fortified city into a ruin, a palace of strangers to be no city. It will never be built.


Therefore look, the days come,” says YHWH, “that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard against Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and it will become a desolate heap, and her daughters will be burned with fire; then Israel will possess those who possessed him,” says YHWH.


Y’all come against her from the farthest border. Y’all must open her storehouses, and cast her up as heaps. Y’all are to completely destroy her. and leave no one alive.


“I will make Jerusalem heaps, a dwelling place of jackals. I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.”


Therefore because of y’all, Zion will be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem will become a heap of ruins, and the mountain of the temple like the high places of a forest.


You are to gather all its plunder into the middle of its street, and the city burn with fire, with all of its plunder, to YHWH your God. It is to be a heap forever. It must not be built again.


Nothing of the devoted thing is to cling to your hand, that YHWH may turn from the fierceness of his anger and show you mercy, and have compassion on you and multiply you, as he has sworn to your fathers,


Joshua set up twelve stones in the middle of the Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests who bore the ark of the covenant stood. They remain there to this day.
