“Count the plunder that was taken, both of man and of animal, you, and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the fathers’ households of the congregation;


Isn’t it lawful for me to do what I want with what I own? Or is your eye envious, because I am generous?’


But all the livestock and the plunder of the cities we took for ourselves as booty.


They went out, they and all their armies with them, many people, even as the sand that is on the seashore in multitude, with very many horses and chariots.


You are to do to Ai and her king just as you did to Jericho and her king, except y’all may take its goods and its livestock for yourselves*. Set an ambush behind the city.”


So Joshua burned Ai and made it a heap forever, even a desolation, to this day.
