Then God said, “Let the land sprout grass, green plants yielding seed, fruit trees making fruit, each according to its species with seed in it, upon the land.” And it happened so.


Then God said, “Let lights in the expanse of the sky be for separating the day from the night. They will be for signs and for seasons and for days and years.


Then God said, “Let there be light!” and there was light.


So God made the expanse and it separated the water that was below the expanse from the water that was over the expanse. And it happened so.


Then God said, “Let the water below the sky be gathered to one place. Let the dry ground appear.” And it happened so.


He spoke, and a swarm of gnats came within all their borders.


He spoke, and the locust came —young locusts without number—


From You is my praise in the great assembly. I will fulfill my vows before those who fear Him.


For He spoke, and it came to be. He commanded, and it stood firm.


Adonai will save me. So we will play my songs on stringed instruments all the days of our life in the House of Adonai.”


“I, I am Adonai— and there is no savior beside Me.


Why was no one there when I came? Why was there no one to answer when I called? Is My hand too short to redeem? Or have I no power to deliver? Behold, I dry up the sea at My rebuke, I make rivers a wilderness— their fish stink for lack of water and die of thirst.


“Yet I have been Adonai your God since the land of Egypt. You should know no God but Me, and there is no Savior apart from Me.
