and said to his servants, “This is John the Baptist; he has been raised from the dead, and that is why these mighty powers are at work in him.”


In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea,


Now King Herod heard about this, for Jesus' name had become known, and he said, “John the Baptist has been raised from the dead, and that is why these mighty powers are at work in him.”


Others said, “He is Elijah.” And others said, “He is a prophet, like one of the prophets.”


Once when Jesus was praying in private and the disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?”


Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, “The Christ of God.”


So they asked him, “What then? Are yoʋ Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are yoʋ the Prophet?” He answered, “No.”


Then they asked him, “Why then do yoʋ baptize if yoʋ are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”


When they heard this, many from among the crowd were saying, “Surely this man is the Prophet.”


So they said to the blind man again, “What do yoʋ say about him, since he opened yoʋr eyes?” The man said, “He is a prophet.”
