The Lord appeared to Abraham by the oaks of Mamre, as he sat at the entrance of his tent in the heat of the day.


The Lord said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do,


After these things God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”


But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven, and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”


The angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time from heaven,


“During the mating of the flock I once had a dream in which I looked up and saw that the male goats that leaped upon the flock were striped, speckled, and mottled.


I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar and made a vow to me. Now leave this land at once and return to the land of your birth.’ ”


But God came to Laban the Aramean in a dream by night, and said to him, “Take heed that you say not a word to Jacob, either good or bad.”


and said to them, “I see that your father does not regard me as favorably as he did before. But the God of my father has been with me.


Once Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him even more.


God spoke to Israel in visions of the night, and said, “Jacob, Jacob.” And he said, “Here I am.”


When the Lord saw that he had turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.”


Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry for help, and he will say, Here I am. If you remove the yoke from among you, the pointing of the finger, the speaking of evil,


And he said, “Hear my words: When there are prophets among you, I the Lord make myself known to them in visions; I speak to them in dreams.


While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent word to him, “Have nothing to do with that innocent man, for today I have suffered a great deal because of a dream about him.”


But Eli called Samuel and said, “Samuel, my son.” He said, “Here I am.”


Then the Lord called, “Samuel! Samuel!” and he said, “Here I am!”


The Lord called again, “Samuel!” Samuel got up and went to Eli, and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” But he said, “I did not call, my son; lie down again.”


The Lord called Samuel again, a third time. And he got up and went to Eli, and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” Then Eli perceived that the Lord was calling the boy.
