That night Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two female servants and his eleven sons and crossed the ford of the Jabbok.

‘You gave them kingdoms and nations, allotting to them even the remotest frontiers. They took over the country of Sihon king of Heshbon and the country of Og king of Bashan.

Stand by the road and watch, you who live in Aroer. Ask the man fleeing and the woman escaping, ask them, “What has happened?”
