When he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the LORD, and give praise in holy array, as they went out before the army, and say, Give thanks to the LORD; for his loving kindness endures forever.


When they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushers against the children of `Ammon, Mo'av, and Mount Se`ir, who had come against Yehudah; and they were struck.


The cords of death surrounded me, the pains of She'ol got a hold of me. I found trouble and sorrow.


then the waters would have overwhelmed us, the stream would have gone over our soul;


For dogs have surrounded me. A company of evil-doers have enclosed me. They pierced my hands and my feet.
