Ya`akov said to Shim`on and Levi, *You have troubled me, to make me odious to the inhabitants of the land, among the Kena`anim and the Perizzi. I am few in number. They will gather themselves together against me and strike me, and I will be destroyed, I and my house.*


It happened about three months later, that it was told Yehudah, saying, *Tamar, your daughter-in-law, has played the prostitute; and moreover, behold, she is with child by prostitution.* Yehudah said, *Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.*


The sons of Karmi: `Akar, the troubler of Yisra'el, who committed a trespass in the devoted thing.


So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain. It takes away the life of its owners.


He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house, but he who hates bribes will live.


*'If a man takes a wife and her mother, it is wickedness: they shall be burned with fire, both he and they; that there may be no wickedness among you.


*Moreover, you shall tell the children of Yisra'el, 'Anyone of the children of Yisra'el, or of the strangers who live as foreigners in Yisra'el, who gives any of his seed to Molekh; he shall surely be put to death. The people of the land shall stone him with stones.

I wish that those who disturb you would cut themselves off.


You shall stone him to death with stones, because he has sought to draw you away from the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

Since it is a righteous thing with God to repay affliction to those who afflict you,


looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it;


But as for you, only keep yourselves from the devoted thing, lest when you have devoted it, you take of the devoted thing; so would you make the camp of Yisra'el accursed, and trouble it.


It shall be, that he who is taken with the devoted thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he has; because he has transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he has done folly in Yisra'el.


Then said Yonatan, My father has troubled the land. Please look how my eyes have been enlightened, because I tasted a little of this honey.
