Gever the son of Uri, in the land of Gil`ad, the country of Sichon king of the Amori and of `Og king of Bashan; and [he was] the only officer who was in the land.


like the dew of Chermon, that comes down on the hills of Tziyon: for there the LORD gives the blessing, even life forevermore.


And gave their land as an inheritance; for his loving kindness endures forever;


The north and the south, you have created them. Tavor and Chermon rejoice in your name.


For it will be that as wandering birds, as a scattered nest, so will the daughters of Mo'av be at the fords of the Arnon.


From there they traveled, and encamped on the other side of the Arnon, which is in the wilderness, that comes out of the border of the Amori: for the Arnon is the border of Mo'av, between Mo'av and the Amori.


Yisra'el sent messengers to Sichon king of the Amori, saying,


Yisra'el struck him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from the Arnon to the Yabbok, even to the children of `Ammon; for the border of the children of `Ammon was strong.


For we will not inherit with them on the other side of the Yarden, and forward; because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side of the Yarden eastward.


We will pass over armed before the LORD into the land of Kena`an, and the possession of our inheritance [shall remain] with us beyond the Yarden.


Moshe gave to them, even to the children of Gad, and to the children of Re'uven, and to the half-tribe of Menasheh the son of Yosef, the kingdom of Sichon king of the Amori, and the kingdom of `Og king of Bashan, the land, according to the cities of it with [their] borders, even the cities of the land round about.


Rise up, take your journey, and pass over the valley of the Arnon: behold, I have given into your hand Sichon the Amori, king of Cheshbon, and his land; begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.


Then Sichon came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Yahatz.


Then we turned, and went up the way to Bashan: and `Og the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edre`i.


This is the law which Moshe set before the children of Yisra'el:


beyond the Yarden, in the valley over against Beit-Pe`or, in the land of Sichon king of the Amori, who lived at Cheshbon, whom Moshe and the children of Yisra'el struck, when they came forth out of Egypt.


from `Aro`er, which is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, even to Mount Tzion (the same is Chermon),


until the LORD has given your brothers rest, as he has given you, and they also have possessed the land which the LORD your God gives them: then you shall return to the land of your possession, and possess it, which Moshe the servant of the LORD gave you beyond the Yarden toward the sunrise.


from Mount Chalak, that goes up to Se`ir, even to Ba`al-Gad in the valley of Levanon under Mount Chermon: and all their kings he took, and struck them, and put them to death.


to the Kena`ani on the east and on the west, and the Amori, and the Chittite, and the Perizzi, and the Yevusi in the hill country, and the Chivvi under Chermon in the land of Mitzpah.


With him the Re'uveni and the Gadi received their inheritance, which Moshe gave them, beyond the Yarden eastward, even as Moshe the servant of the LORD gave them:


Now the LORD your God has given rest to your brothers, as he spoke to them: therefore now turn you, and get you to your tents, to the land of your possession, which Moshe the servant of the LORD gave you beyond the Yarden.


Then they went through the wilderness, and went around the land of Edom, and the land of Mo'av, and came by the east side of the land of Mo'av, and they encamped on the other side of the Arnon; but they didn't come within the border of Mo'av, for the Arnon was the border of Mo'av.
