and the Chori in their Mount Se`ir, to El-Paran, which is by the wilderness.


Esav said to Ya`akov, *Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am famished.* Therefore his name was called Edom.


Please deliver me from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esav: for I fear him, lest he come and strike me, and the mothers with the children.


Then Ya`akov was greatly afraid and was distressed. He divided the people who were with him, and the flocks, and the herds, and the camels, into two companies;


Please let my lord pass over before his servant, and I will lead on gently, according to the pace of the livestock that are before me and according to the pace of the children, until I come to my lord to Se`ir.*


So Esav returned that day on his way to Se`ir.


Now Aviner the son of Ner, captain of Sha'ul's army, had taken Ish-Boshet the son of Sha'ul, and brought him over to Machanayim;
