and Mitzpah, for he said, *The LORD watch between me and you, when we are absent one from another.


For we must needs die, and are as water split on the ground, which can't be gathered up again; neither does God take away life, but devises means, that he who is banished not be an outcast from him.


yet if they shall repent themselves in the land where they are carried captive, and turn again, and make supplication to you in the land of those who carried them captive, saying, We have sinned, and have done perversely, we have dealt wickedly;


The three broke through the army of the Pelishtim, and drew water out of the well of Beit-Lechem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not drink of it, but poured it out to the LORD,


Yehoshafat feared, and set himself to seek to the LORD; and he proclaimed a fast throughout all Yehudah.


Therefore you delivered them into the hand of their adversaries, who distressed them: and in the time of their trouble, when they cried to you, you heard from heaven; and according to your manifold mercies you gave them saviors who saved them out of the hand of their adversaries.

Oh that my head were waters, and my eyes a spring of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!


My eyes do fail with tears, my heart is troubled; My liver is poured on the earth, because of the destruction of the daughter of my people, Because the young children and the infants swoon in the streets of the city.


My eye pours down, and doesn't cease, without any intermission,


The crown is fallen from our head: Woe to us! for we have sinned.


Will you judge them, son of man, will you judge them? Cause them to know the abominations of their fathers;


*Listen to this, you Kohanim! Listen, house of Yisra'el, and give ear, house of the king! For the judgment is against you; for you have been a snare at Mitzpah, and a net spread on Tavor.


*Yet even now,* says the LORD, *turn to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning.*


*It shall be a statute to you forever: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and shall do no manner of work, the native-born, or the stranger who lives as a foreigner among you:


*'If they confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, in their trespass which they trespassed against me, and also that, because they walked contrary to me,


I will get up and go to my father, and will tell him, *Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight.


and Mitzpeh, and Kefirah, and Motzah,


The children of Yisra'el cried to the LORD, saying, We have sinned against you, even because we have forsaken our God, and have served the Ba`alim.


The children of Yisra'el said to the LORD, We have sinned: do you to us whatever seems good to you; only deliver us, we pray you, this day.


It happened, when the angel of the LORD spoke these words to all the children of Yisra'el, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.


The children of Yisra'el went up and wept before the LORD until even; and they asked of the LORD, saying, Shall I again draw near to battle against the children of Binyamin my brother? the LORD said, Go up against him.


Then all the children of Yisra'el, and all the people, went up, and came to Beit-El, and wept, and sat there before the LORD, and fasted that day until even; and they offered burnt offerings and shalom offerings before the LORD.


The Spirit of the LORD came on him, and he judged Yisra'el; and he went out to war, and the LORD delivered Kushan-Rish`atayim king of Aram-Naharayim into his hand: and his hand prevailed against Kushan-Rish`atayim.


Channah answered, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but I poured out my soul before the LORD.


Shemu'el called the people together to the LORD to Mitzpah;


They cried to the LORD, and said, We have sinned, because we have forsaken the LORD, and have served the Ba`alim and the `Ashtarot: but now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we will serve you.


Shemu'el judged Yisra'el all the days of his life.
