They refused to obey and were not mindful of the wonders that you performed among them, but they stiffened their neck and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt. But you are a God ready to forgive, gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and did not forsake them.


You say, ‘God stores up their iniquity for their children.’ Let him pay it out to them, that they may know it.


The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.


For your steadfast love is great above the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.


May the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the Lord, and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out!

And now, please let the power of the Lord be great as you have promised, saying,


He has not beheld misfortune in Jacob, nor has he seen trouble in Israel. The Lord their God is with them, and the shout of a king is among them.


so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
