Later Jesus showed himself to the eleven followers while they were eating. Jesus criticized the followers because they had little faith. They were stubborn and refused to believe the people that said Jesus had risen from death.


Jesus looked at the people. He was angry. But he felt very sad because they were stubborn. Jesus said to the man, “Let me see your hand.” The man put his hand out for Jesus, and it was healed.


Jesus said, “You still have trouble understanding? Surely you know that nothing that enters a person from the outside can make him wrong.


Then Jesus said to the two men, “You are foolish and slow to realize what is true. You should believe everything the prophets {\cf2\super [391]} said.


“God made the people blind.\par God closed their minds.\par God did this so that they will not\par see with their eyes\par and understand with their minds.\par God did this so that they would not turn and be healed.”\par \i (Isaiah 6:10)\i0 \par


So this is what has happened: The people of Israel (the Jews) tried \{to be right with God\}. But they did not succeed. But the people God chose did \{become right with him\}. The other people became hard and refused to listen to God.
