But the king answered, “What can I do, sons of Zeruiah? Sure, Shimei is cursing me. But the Lord told him to curse me.”


Job answered his wife, “You talk like a foolish woman! God gives us good things, and we accept them. So we should also accept trouble \{and not complain\}.” All these things happened. But Job did not sin. He did not speak against God.


God is the judge.\par And God decides who will be important.\par God lifts up one person\par and makes him important,\par God brings down another person\par and makes him not important.\par


Many people want to be the friends of a ruler. But the Lord is the One that judges people fairly.


When life is good, enjoy it. But when life is hard, remember that God gives us good times and hard times. And no one knows what will happen in the future.\par


I made the light,\par and I made darkness.\par I make peace,\par and I make troubles.\par I am the Lord—\par and I do all these things.\par


This is what the Lord says: “I have brought this great disaster to the people of Israel and Judah. In the same way, I will bring good things to them. I promise to do good things for them.


If a trumpet blows a warning, then the people will surely shake with fear. If trouble comes to a city, then the Lord caused it.
