Then that person will confess to people.\par He will say,\par ‘I sinned.\par I changed good into bad.\par But God didn’t give me\par the punishment I deserved!\par


And if a ruler causes people to sin,\par then God will remove him from power.\par


God, even if I can’t see \{you\},\par please teach me\par \{the right way to live\}.\par If I have done wrong,\par I won’t do it again.’\par


And Lord, I am ashamed of myself.\par Lord, I am so sorry.\par As I sit in the dust and ashes, {\cf2\super [107]} \par I promise to change my heart\par and my life.”\par


A person that hides his sins will not be successful. But a person that confesses his sins and stops doing wrong will receive mercy.


I have listened to them very carefully.\par But they don’t say what is right.\par The people are not sorry for their sins.\par The people don’t think about the bad things they have done.\par The people do things without thinking.\par They are like horses running into a battle.\par


Maybe they will admit that I turned against them and brought them into the land of their enemies. Those people will be like strangers to me. But maybe they will become humble [453] and accept the punishment for their sin.


I sinned against the Lord.\par So he was angry at me.\par But he will argue my case for me in court.\par He will do the things that are right for me.\par Then he will bring me out into the light.\par And I will see that he is right.\par


Then Balaam said to the Lord’s angel, “I have sinned. I did not know that you were standing in the road. If I am doing wrong, then I will go back home.”
