I will say to God:\par ‘Don’t blame me!\par Tell me,\par What have I done wrong?\par What do you have against me?\par


That will happen unless he says to God,\par ‘I am guilty.\par I won’t sin any more.\par


God, even if I can’t see \{you\},\par please teach me\par \{the right way to live\}.\par If I have done wrong,\par I won’t do it again.’\par


The Lord looked down from heaven\par to see if there were any wise people.\par (Wise people turn to God for help.)\par


The Lord wants to show his mercy to you. The Lord is waiting. The Lord wants to rise and comfort you. The Lord God is fair, and every person that waits for the Lord’s help will be blessed (happy).


These people did evil things,\par and it made me angry.\par So, I punished Israel.\par I turned away from him\par because I was angry.\par And Israel left me.\par He went wherever he wanted.\par


The Lord looked and was surprised\par that he could find no person\par to stand and speak for the people.\par So the Lord used his own power\par and his own goodness,\par and the Lord saved the people.\par


“There are prophets that preach lies in my name. They say, ‘I have had a dream! I have had a dream!’ I heard them say those things.


You also said,\par ‘God will not always be angry at me.\par God’s anger will not continue forever.’\par


The Lord says,\} “Walk the streets of Jerusalem. Look around and think about these things. Search the public squares of the city. See if you can find one good person, one person that does honest things, one that searches for the truth. If you find one good person, I will forgive Jerusalem!


That person saw how bad he was and came back to me. He stopped doing the bad things he did in the past. So he will live! He won’t die!”


None of the people of Israel obeyed your teachings. They all have turned away. They did not obey you. There are curses {\cf2\super [101]} and promises written in the Law of Moses. (Moses was God’s servant.) Those curses and promises tell about the punishment for not obeying the law—and all those things have happened to us. Those things happened to us because we sinned against the Lord.


I mean, all of the faithful people are gone.\par There are no good people left\par in this country.\par Every person is waiting to kill someone.\par Every person is trying to trap his brother.\par


I tell you these things so you will learn a lesson. I want you to fear and respect me. If you do this, then your home won’t be destroyed. If you do this, then I won’t have to punish you the way I planned.” But those bad people only wanted to do more of the same bad things they had already done!


Now, the Lord All-Powerful says, ‘Think about what is happening!

God’s followers spoke with each other, and the Lord listened to them. There is a book in front of him. In that book are the names of God’s followers. Those are the people that honor the Lord’s name.


The Lord is not being slow in doing what he promised—the way some people understand slowness. But God is being patient with you. God doesn’t want any person to be lost. God wants every person to change his heart and stop sinning.


The other people \{on the earth\} were not killed by these bad things. But these people still did not change their hearts and lives and turn away from the things they had made with their own hands. They did not stop worshiping demons {\cf2\super [72]} and idols {\cf2\super [73]} made of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood—things that cannot see or hear or walk.
