before the sun and the light are darkened, and the moon and the stars, and the clouds return after   the rain;


Indeed, the stars of the sky and its constellations will not give their light. The sun will be dark when it rises, and the moon will not shine.


The moon will be put to shame and the sun disgraced, because the Lord of Armies will reign as king on Mount Zion in Jerusalem, and he will display his glory in the presence of his elders.


All  the stars in the sky  will dissolve. The sky will roll up like a scroll, and its stars will all wither as leaves wither on the vine, and foliage on the fig tree.


The earth quakes before them; the sky shakes. The sun and moon grow dark, and the stars cease their shining.

Won’t the day of the  Lord be darkness rather than light, even gloom without any brightness in it?


And in that day – this is the declaration of the Lord  God  – I will make the sun go down at noon; I will darken the land in the daytime.


For at that time there will be great distress,   , the kind that hasn’t taken place from the beginning of the world until now and never will again.


All these events are the beginning of labour pains.


But the day of the Lord  will come like a thief;  , on that day the heavens will pass away  with a loud noise, the elements will burn and be dissolved,  and the earth and the works on it will be disclosed.  ,


The fourth angel blew his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. A third of the day was without light and also a third of the night.
