Then Jacob tore his clothes, put sackcloth round his waist, and mourned for his son for many days.


When Ahab heard these words, he tore his clothes, put sackcloth over his body, and fasted. He lay down in sackcloth  and walked around subdued.


He has stripped me of my honour and removed the crown from my head.


He throws me into the mud, and I have become like dust and ashes.


On that day the Lord God of Armies called for weeping,  for wailing, for shaven heads, and for the wearing of sackcloth.


Let him put his mouth in the dust   – perhaps there is still hope.


Hannah prayed: My heart rejoices in the  Lord; my horn is lifted up by the  Lord. My mouth boasts over my enemies, because I rejoice in your salvation.


Those who oppose the  Lord will be shattered;  , he will thunder in the heavens against them. The Lord will judge the ends of the earth. He will give power to his king; he will lift up the horn of his anointed.  ,
