He leads counsellors away barefoot and makes judges go mad.


He leads priests away barefoot and overthrows established leaders.


I have sewn sackcloth over my skin; I have buried my strength  in the dust.


But now they mock   me, men younger than I am, whose fathers I would have refused to put with my sheep dogs.


for wealth is not for ever; not even a crown lasts for all time.


But you will be called the  Lord’s priests; they will speak of you as ministers of our God; you will eat the wealth of the nations, and you will boast in their riches.


The crown has fallen from our head. Woe to us, for we have sinned.


Ephraim’s glory will fly away like a bird: no birth, no pregnancy, no conception.
