Tell me, you whom I love: Where do you pasture your sheep? Where do you let them rest at noon? Why should I be like one who veils herself beside the flocks of your companions?


Sharon will be a pasture for flocks, and the Valley of Achor a place for herds to lie down, for my people who have sought me.


Then people will come from the cities of Judah and from the area around Jerusalem, from the land of Benjamin and from the Judean foothills, from the hill country and from the Negev,  bringing burnt offerings and sacrifices, grain offerings and frankincense, and thanksgiving sacrifices to the house of the Lord.


They will come and shout for joy on the heights of Zion; they will be radiant with joy because of the  Lord’s goodness, because of the grain, the new wine, the fresh oil, and because of the young of the flocks and herds. Their life will be like an irrigated garden, and they will no longer grow weak from hunger.


Judah and all its cities will live in it together #– #also farmers and those who move  with the flocks #– #


For this is what the Lord of Armies, the God of Israel, says: Houses, fields, and vineyards will again be bought in this land.”


You are to proclaim concerning King Jehoiakim of Judah, “This is what the Lord says: You have burned the scroll, asking, ‘Why have you written on it that  the king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land and cause it to be without people or animals? ’


My people were lost sheep; their shepherds led them astray, guiding them the wrong way in the mountains. They wandered from mountain to hill; they forgot their resting place.


Say, “Lord, you have threatened to cut off  this place so that no one will live in it #– #people or animals.  Indeed, it will remain desolate for ever.”


They will say, ‘This land that was desolate has become like the garden of Eden.  The cities that were once ruined, desolate, and demolished are now fortified and inhabited.’


‘Is it a time for you yourselves to live in your panelled houses,  while this house  lies in ruins? ’
