He took his last breath and died at a good old age,  old and contented,  and he was gathered to his people.


Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, ‘The word of the Lord that you have spoken is good,’  for he thought, ‘Why not, if there will be peace and security during my lifetime? ’


When your time comes to be with your ancestors, I will raise up after you your descendant, who is one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom.


“I will indeed gather you to your ancestors, and you will be gathered to your grave in peace. Your eyes will not see all the disaster that I am bringing on this place and on its inhabitants.” ’ Then they reported to the king.


Do not weep for the dead; do not mourn for him. Weep bitterly for the one who has gone away, for he will never return again and see his native land.


The Lord said to Moses, ‘You are about to rest with your ancestors,  and these people will soon prostitute themselves with the foreign gods  of the land they are entering. They will abandon me  and break the covenant  I have made with them.
