This was the sin that caused the house of Jeroboam to be cut off and obliterated from the face of the earth.


When Baasha became king, he struck down the entire house of Jeroboam.  He did not leave Jeroboam any survivors but  destroyed his family according to the word of the Lord which he had spoken through his servant Ahijah the Shilonite.


take note: I will eradicate Baasha and his house, and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat:


Anyone who belongs to Baasha and dies in the city, the dogs will eat, and anyone who is his and dies in the field, the birds  will eat.’


Tell him, “This is what the Lord says: Have you murdered  and also taken possession? ”  Then tell him, “This is what the Lord says: In the place where the dogs licked up Naboth’s blood, the dogs will also lick up your blood! ” ’


I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat and like the house of Baasha son of Ahijah.


And the glory of the  Lord will appear, and all humanity  together will see it, for the mouth of the  Lord has spoken.

all these I will hand over to their enemies, to those who intend to take their life. Their corpses will become food for the birds of the sky and for the wild animals of the land.


God is not a man, that he might lie, or a son of man, that he might change his mind. Does he speak and not act, or promise and not fulfil?
