Naomisaidto her daughter-in-law,"May he be blessedof the LORDwhohas not withdrawnhis kindnessto the livingand to the dead."Again Naomisaidto her, "The manis our relative,he is one of our closestrelatives."
Davidsentmessengersto the menof Jabesh-gilead,and saidto them, "May you be blessedof the LORDbecauseyou have shownthiskindnessto Saulyour lord,and have buriedhim.
Then Davidsaid,"Is thereyetanyoneleftof the houseof Saul,that I may showhim kindnessfor Jonathan'ssake?"
"As for me, I knowthat my Redeemerlives,And at the lastHe will takeHis standon the earth.
A friendlovesat alltimes,And a brotheris bornfor adversity.
Ifa fellowcountrymanof yours becomesso poorhe has to sellpart of his property,then his nearestkinsmanis to comeand buybackwhathis relativehas sold.
But I rejoicedin the Lordgreatly,that nowat lastyou have revivedyour concernfor me; indeed,you were concerned[before], but you lacked opportunity.
Then Ruththe Moabitesssaid,"Furthermore,he saidto me, 'You should staycloseto my servantsuntilthey have finishedallmy harvest.'"
"Nowit is true I am a closerelative;however,thereis a relativecloserthanI.
Then the womensaidto Naomi,"Blessedis the LORDwhohas not leftyou withouta redeemertoday,and may his namebecomefamousin Israel.
"So I thoughtto informyou, saying,Buy[it] beforethose who are sitting[here], and beforethe eldersof my people.Ifyou will redeem[it], redeem[it]; but ifnot, tellme that I may know;for thereis noonebut you to redeem[it], and I am afteryou.'" And he said,"I will redeem[it]."
The closestrelativesaid,"I cannotredeem[it] for myself, becauseI would jeopardizemy own inheritance.Redeem[it] for yourself; you [may have] my rightof redemption,for I cannotredeem[it]."
