standingat a distancebecauseof the fearof her torment,saying,Woe,woe,the greatcity,Babylon,the strongcity!For in onehouryour judgmenthas come.'
"Now behold,herecomesa troopof riders,horsemenin pairs."And one said,"Fallen,fallenis Babylon;And allthe imagesof her godsare shatteredon the ground."
"But thesetwothingswill comeon you suddenlyin oneday:Lossof childrenand widowhood.They will comeon you in fullmeasureIn spite of your manysorceries,In spite of the greatpowerof your spells.
Alas!for that dayis great,Thereis nonelikeit; And it is the timeof Jacob'sdistress,But he will be savedfrom it.
"I will also troublethe heartsof manypeopleswhen I bringyour destructionamong the nations,into landswhichyou have not known.
Alasfor the day!For the dayof the LORDis near,And it will comeas destructionfrom the Almighty.
Thereforethussaysthe LORDGodof hosts,the Lord,"There is wailingin allthe plazas,And in allthe streetsthey say,'Alas!Alas!'They also callthe farmerto mourningAnd professionalmournersto lamentation.
AllIsraelwho[were] aroundthem fledat their outcry,for they said,"The earthmay swallowus up!"
And their dead bodies[will lie] in the streetof the greatcitywhichmysticallyis calledSodomand Egypt,wherealsotheir Lordwas crucified.
And anotherangel,a second one,followed,saying,"Fallen,fallenis Babylonthe great,she whohas madeallthe nationsdrinkof the wineof the passionof her immorality."
The greatcitywas splitinto threeparts,and the citiesof the nationsfell.Babylonthe greatwas rememberedbeforeGod,to giveher the cupof the wineof His fiercewrath.
"The tenhornswhichyou saware tenkingswhohave not yetreceiveda kingdom,but they receiveauthorityas kingswith the beastfor onehour.
and were cryingout as they sawthe smokeof her burning,saying,What[city] is likethe greatcity?'
"And they threwduston their headsand were cryingout, weepingand mourning,saying,Woe,woe,the greatcity,in whichallwho hadshipsat seabecame richby her wealth,for in onehourshe has been laid waste!'
Thena strongangeltookup a stonelikea greatmillstoneand threwit into the sea,saying,"Sowill Babylon,the greatcity,be throwndown with violence,and will not be foundany longer.
"For thisreasonin onedayher plagueswill come,pestilenceand mourningand famine,and she will be burnedup with fire;for the LordGodwho judgesher is strong.
