The fourth[angel] pouredout his bowlupon the sun,and it was givento it to scorchmenwith fire.
Then the moonwill be abashedand the sunashamed,For the LORDof hostswill reignon MountZionand in Jerusalem,And [His] glorywill be beforeHis elders.
When the suncameup Godappointeda scorchingeastwind,and the sunbeatdownon Jonah'sheadso that he becamefaintand beggedwith [all] his soulto die,saying,"Deathis betterto me thanlife."
"But when the sunhad risen,they were scorched;and becausethey hadnoroot,they withered away.
"There will be signsin sunand moonand stars,and on the earthdismayamong nations,in perplexityat the roaringof the seaand the waves,
THE SUNWILL BE TURNEDINTO DARKNESSAND THE MOONINTO BLOOD,BEFORETHE GREATAND GLORIOUSDAYOF THE LORDSHALL COME.
Thenanotherangel,the one who haspoweroverfire,cameout from the altar;and he calledwith a loudvoiceto him who hadthe sharpsickle,saying,"Putin your sharpsickleand gatherthe clustersfrom the vineof the earth,becauseher grapesare ripe."
I lookedwhenHe brokethe sixthseal,and there was a greatearthquake;and the sunbecameblackas sackcloth[made] of hair,and the wholemoonbecamelikeblood;
"They will hungernolonger,northirstanymore;norwill the sunbeat downon them, noranyheat;
The fourthangelsounded,and a thirdof the sunand a thirdof the moonand a thirdof the starswere struck,sothat a thirdof them would be darkenedand the daywould not shinefor a thirdof it, and the nightin the same way.
He openedthe bottomlesspit,and smokewentup out of the pit,likethe smokeof a greatfurnace;and the sunand the airwere darkenedby the smokeof the pit.
