Thussaysthe LORD,"A voiceis heardin Ramah,Lamentation[and] bitterweeping.Rachelis weepingfor her children;She refusesto be comfortedfor her children,Becausethey are nomore."
Thenthe Jewswho were with her in the house,and consolingher, when they sawthat Marygotup quicklyand wentout, they followedher, supposingthat she was goingto the tombto weepthere.
"Come,let us returnto the LORD.For He has torn[us], but He will healus; He has wounded[us], but He will bandageus.
The spiritof a mancan endurehis sickness,But [as for] a brokenspiritwhocan bearit?

In my distressI calledupon the LORD,And criedto my Godfor help;He heardmy voiceout of His temple,And my cryfor helpbeforeHim cameinto His ears.

"Ifthere is faminein the land,ifthere is pestilence,ifthere is blightor mildew,ifthere is locustor grasshopper,iftheir enemiesbesiegethem in the landof their cities,whateverplagueor whateversickness[there is],
He said,"Your nameshall nolongerbe Jacob,but Israel;for you have strivenwith Godand with menand have prevailed."
