Do not castme offin the timeof oldage;Do not forsakeme when my strengthfails.
"I am noweightyyearsold. Can I distinguishbetweengoodand bad?Orcan your servanttastewhatI eator whatI drink?Orcan I hearanymorethe voiceof singingmen and women? Whythen should your servantbe an addedburdento my lordthe king?
And evenwhen[I am] oldand gray,O God,do not forsakeme, UntilI declareYour strengthto [this] generation,Your powerto allwho are to come.
My fleshand my heartmay fail,But Godis the strengthof my heartand my portionforever.
As for the daysof our life, they contain seventyyears,Or ifdue to strength, eightyyears,Yet their prideis [but] laborand sorrow; For soonit is goneand we flyaway.
Even to [your] oldageI will be the same,And evento [your] grayingyearsI will bear[you]! I have done[it], and I will carry[you]; And I will bear[you] and I will deliver[you].
For thisreasonI alsosufferthese things, but I am not ashamed;for I knowwhomI have believedand I am convincedthat He is ableto guardwhat I have entrustedto Him untilthat day.
The Lordwill rescueme from everyevildeed, and will bring me safelyto His heavenlykingdom;to Him [be] the gloryforeverand ever.Amen.
