A fatherof the fatherlessand a judgefor the widows,Is Godin His holyhabitation.
Then the Leviticalpriestsaroseand blessedthe people;and their voicewas heardand their prayercameto His holydwellingplace,to heaven.
"I have builtYou a loftyhouse,And a placefor Your dwellingforever."
You have seen[it], for You have beheldmischiefand vexationto takeit into Your hand. The unfortunatecommits[himself] to You; You have beenthe helperof the orphan.
To vindicatethe orphanand the oppressed,So that manwho is of the earthwill nolongercauseterror.
Opento me the gatesof righteousness;I shall enterthrough them, I shall givethanksto the LORD.
The LORDprotectsthe strangers; He supportsthe fatherlessand the widow,But He thwartsthe wayof the wicked.
Let everythingthat has breathpraisethe LORD.Praisethe LORD!
From His dwellingplaceHe looksout On allthe inhabitantsof the earth,
May he judgeYour peoplewith righteousnessAnd Your afflictedwith justice.
May he vindicatethe afflictedof the people,Savethe childrenof the needyAnd crushthe oppressor.
God,furthermore, saidto Moses,"Thusyou shall sayto the sonsof Israel,The LORD,the Godof your fathers, the Godof Abraham, the Godof Isaac, and the Godof Jacob, has sentme to you.' Thisis My nameforever, and thisis My memorial-nameto allgenerations.
Your rulersare rebelsAnd companionsof thieves;Everyonelovesa bribeAnd chasesafter rewards. They do not defendthe orphan,Nordoes the widow'spleacomebeforethem.
And in that dayyou will say,"Givethanksto the LORD,callon His name.MakeknownHis deedsamong the peoples;Make [them] rememberthat His nameis exalted."
For thussaysthe highand exaltedOne Who livesforever, whose nameis Holy,"I dwell[on] a highand holyplace, And [also] with the contriteand lowlyof spiritIn order to revivethe spiritof the lowlyAnd to revivethe heartof the contrite.
Thussaysthe LORD,"Heavenis My throneand the earthis My footstool.Wherethenis a houseyou could buildfor Me? And whereis a placethat I may rest?
"Leaveyour orphansbehind,I will keep[them] alive; And let your widowstrustin Me."
They are fat, they are sleek,They alsoexcelin deedsof wickedness; They do not pleadthe cause,The causeof the orphan, that they may prosper; And they do not defendthe rightsof the poor.
"Assyriawill not saveus, We will not rideon horses;Norwill we sayagain,Our god,'To the workof our hands; For in You the orphanfindsmercy."
Thereforebe imitatorsof God,as belovedchildren;
"He executesjusticefor the orphanand the widow, and showsHis lovefor the alienby givinghim foodand clothing.
Lookdownfrom Your holyhabitation, from heaven, and blessYour peopleIsrael, and the groundwhichYou have givenus, a landflowingwith milkand honey,as You sworeto our fathers.'
