For he sees[that even] wisemendie;The stupidand the senselessalikeperishAnd leavetheir wealthto others.
From menwith Your hand,O LORD,From menof the world,whose portionis in [this] life,And whose bellyYou fillwith Your treasure;They are satisfiedwith children,And leavetheir abundanceto their babes.
"Surelyeverymanwalksabout as a phantom;Surelythey makean uproarfor nothing;He amasses[riches] and does not knowwhowill gatherthem.
For whenhe dieshe will carrynothingaway; His glorywill not descendafterhim.
Then I was senselessand ignorant;I was [like] a beastbeforeYou.
Whereare Your formerlovingkindnesses,O Lord,Which You sworeto Davidin Your faithfulness?
Payheed,you senselessamong the people;And whenwill you understand,stupidones?
Richesdo not profitin the dayof wrath,But righteousnessdeliversfrom death.
Whoever lovesdisciplinelovesknowledge,But he who hatesreproofis stupid.
The crownof the wiseis their riches,[But] the follyof foolsis foolishness.
SurelyI am morestupidthananyman,And I do not have the understandingof a man.
For to a personwhois goodin His sightHe has givenwisdomand knowledgeand joy,while to the sinnerHe has giventhe taskof gatheringand collectingso that he may giveto onewhois goodin God'ssight.Thistoois vanityand strivingafter wind.
But they are altogetherstupidand foolish[In their] disciplineof delusion--their idol is wood!
"As a partridgethat hatcheseggswhich it has not laid,[So] is he who makesa fortune,but unjustly;In the midstof his daysit will forsakehim, And in the endhe will be a fool."
