Now in allIsraelwas nooneas handsomeas Absalom,so highlypraised;from the soleof his footto the crownof his headthere was nodefectin him.
The adviceof Ahithophel,whichhe gavein thosedays,[was] as ifone inquiredof the wordof God;sowas allthe adviceof Ahithophel[regarded] by bothDavidand Absalom.
Now whenAhithophelsawthat his counselwas not followed,he saddled[his] donkeyand aroseand wentto his home,to his city,and sethis housein order,and strangledhimself; thus he diedand was buriedin the graveof his father.
Then Joabsaid,"I will not wastetimeherewith you." So he tookthreespearsin his handand thrustthem through the heartof Absalomwhile he was yetalivein the midstof the oak.
They tookAbsalomand casthim into a deeppitin the forestand erectedoverhim a verygreatheapof stones.And allIsraelfled,eachto his tent.
"Vanityof vanities,"saysthe Preacher,"allis vanity!"
Thus I consideredallmy activitieswhichmy handshad doneand the laborwhichI had exerted,and beholdallwas vanityand strivingafter windand therewas noprofitunderthe sun.
Indeed,thereis not a righteousmanon earthwho[continually] doesgoodand who neversins.
"Heavenand earthwill passaway,but My wordswill not pass away.

but I sayto you that everyonewho looksat a womanwith lustfor her has alreadycommitted adulterywith her in his heart.
For we knowthat the Lawis spiritual,but I amof flesh,soldinto bondage to sin.
He stoodand shoutedto the ranksof Israeland saidto them, "Whydo you comeout to drawup in battlearray? Am I not the Philistineand you servantsof Saul?Choosea manfor yourselves and let him comedownto me.
He hada sonwhose namewas Saul,a choiceand handsome[man], and therewas not a morehandsomepersonthanhe amongthe sonsof Israel;from his shouldersand up he was tallerthananyof the people.
