And He calledfor a famineupon the land;He brokethe wholestaffof bread.
and the sevenyearsof faminebeganto come,justas Josephhad said,then there was faminein allthe lands,but in allthe landof Egyptthere was bread.
Now therewas nofoodin allthe land,becausethe faminewas verysevere,so that the landof Egyptand the landof Canaanlanguishedbecauseof the famine.
"Whyshould we diebefore your eyes,bothwe and our land?Buyus and our landfor food,and we and our landwill be slavesto Pharaoh.So giveus seed,that we may liveand not die,and that the landmay not be desolate."
Now Elishaspoketo the womanwhosesonhe had restoredto life,saying,"Ariseand gowith your household,and sojournwhereveryou can sojourn;for the LORDhas calledfor a famine,and it will evencomeon the landfor sevenyears."
And winewhich makesman'sheartglad,So that he may make [his] faceglistenwith oil,And foodwhich sustainsman'sheart.
For behold,the LordGODof hostsis going to removefrom Jerusalemand JudahBoth supplyand support,the wholesupplyof breadAnd the wholesupplyof water;
Moreover, He saidto me, "Sonof man,behold,I am going to breakthe staffof breadin Jerusalem,and they will eatbreadby weightand with anxiety,and drinkwaterby measureand in horror,
When I breakyour staffof bread,tenwomenwill bakeyour breadin oneoven,and they will bringbackyour breadin rationedamounts,so that you will eatand not be satisfied.
Ifa trumpetis blownin a citywill not the peopletremble?Ifa calamityoccursin a cityhas not the LORDdoneit?
I smoteyou [and] everyworkof your handswith blastingwind,mildewand hail;yet you [did] not [come] [back] to Me,' declaresthe LORD.
"Nowa faminecameoverallEgyptand Canaan,and greataffliction[with it], and our fatherscould findnofood.
I looked,and behold,an ashenhorse;and he who saton it had the nameDeath;and Hadeswas followingwith him. Authoritywas givento them overa fourthof the earth,to killwith swordand with famineand with pestilenceand by the wild beastsof the earth.
