Thorns[and] snaresare in the wayof the perverse;He who guardshimselfwill be farfrom them.
Listen,my son,and be wise,And directyour heartin the way.
He who trustsin his own heartis a fool,But he who walkswiselywill be delivered.
My son,let them not vanishfrom your sight;Keepsoundwisdomand discretion,
"The beginningof wisdom[is]: Acquirewisdom;And with allyour acquiring,getunderstanding.
Thereis a grievousevil[which] I have seenunderthe sun:richesbeing hoardedby their ownerto his hurt.

"But the things that proceedout of the mouthcomefrom the heart,and thosedefilethe man.
"For out of the heartcomeevilthoughts,murders,adulteries,fornications,thefts,false witness,slanders.
"Keepwatching and prayingthat you may not comeinto temptation;the spiritis willing,but the fleshis weak."
"The goodmanout of the goodtreasureof his heartbringsforthwhat is good;and the evil[man] out of the evil[treasure] brings forthwhat is evil;for his mouthspeaksfrom that which fillshis heart.
"Onlygiveheedto yourself and keepyour souldiligently,sothat you do not forgetthe thingswhichyour eyeshave seenand they do not departfrom your heartallthe daysof your life;but makethem knownto your sonsand your grandsons.
Seeto it that noonecomes shortof the graceof God;that norootof bitternessspringingup causes trouble,and by it manybe defiled;
