Ceaselistening,my son,to discipline,[And you will] strayfrom the wordsof knowledge.
Jonadabthen saidto him, "Liedownon your bedand pretendto be ill;when your fathercomesto seeyou, sayto him, 'Pleaselet my sisterTamarcomeand give me [some] foodto eat,and let her preparethe foodin my sight,that I may see[it] and eatfrom her hand.'"
The youngmenwhogrewup with him spoketo him, saying,"Thusyou shall sayto the peoplewhospoketo you, saying,'Your fathermadeour yokeheavy,but you makeit lighterfor us.' Thusyou shall sayto them, 'My littlefingeris thickerthanmy father'sloins!
Leavethe presenceof a fool,Or you will not discernwordsof knowledge.
He who assaults[his] father[and] drives[his] motherawayIs a shamefuland disgracefulson.
A rascallywitnessmakesa mockeryof justice,And the mouthof the wickedspreadsiniquity.
"But as for you, do not listento your prophets,your diviners,your dreamers,your soothsayersor your sorcererswhospeakto you, saying,'You will not servethe kingof Babylon.'
Thenthey understoodthat He did not sayto bewareof the leavenof bread,but of the teachingof the Phariseesand Sadducees.
And Jesussaidto them, "Watchout and bewareof the leavenof the Phariseesand Sadducees."
"Bewareof the false prophets,whocometo you in sheep'sclothing,but inwardlyare ravenouswolves.
And He was sayingto them, "Take carewhatyou listento. By your standardof measureit will be measuredto you; and more will be given you besides.
"A strangerthey simply will not follow,but will fleefrom him, becausethey do not knowthe voiceof strangers."
As a result,we are no longerto be children,tossed here and there by wavesand carried aboutby everywindof doctrine,by the trickeryof men,by craftinessin deceitfulscheming;
But have nothing to dowith worldlyfablesfit only for old women.On the otherhand,disciplineyourselffor the purpose of godliness;
Beloved,do not believeeveryspirit,but testthe spiritsto see whetherthey are from God,becausemanyfalse prophetshave goneout into the world.
Ifanyonecomesto you and does not bringthisteaching,do not receivehim into [your] house,and do not givehim a greeting;
I knowyour deedsand your toiland perseverance,and that you cannottolerateevil men,and you put to the testthosewho callthemselvesapostles,and they are not, and you foundthem [to be] false;
