When the donkeysawthe angelof the LORDstandingin the waywith his drawnswordin his hand,the donkeyturnedoff from the wayand wentinto the field;but Balaamstruckthe donkeyto turnher backinto the way.
Then Elishaprayedand said,"O LORD,I pray,openhis eyesthat he may see."And the LORDopenedthe servant'seyesand he saw;and behold,the mountainwas fullof horsesand chariotsof fireallaroundElisha.
Then Davidliftedup his eyesand sawthe angelof the LORDstandingbetweenearthand heaven,with his drawnswordin his handstretchedout overJerusalem.Then Davidand the elders,coveredwith sackcloth,fellon their faces.
"Eventhe storkin the skyKnowsher seasons;And the turtledoveand the swiftand the thrushObservethe timeof their migration;But My peopledo not knowThe ordinanceof the LORD.
Now I, Daniel,alonesawthe vision,while the menwhowere with me did not seethe vision;nevertheless,a greatdreadfellon them, and they ranawayto hidethemselves.
But Godwas angrybecausehe was going,and the angelof the LORDtookhis standin the wayas an adversaryagainst him. Now he was ridingon his donkeyand his twoservantswere with him.
Then the angelof the LORDstoodin a narrowpathof the vineyards,[with] a wallon thissideand a wallon that side.
"And thosewhowere with me sawthe light,to be sure,but did not understandthe voiceof the One who was speakingto me.
Now it cameabout when Joshuawas by Jericho,that he liftedup his eyesand looked,and behold,a manwas standingoppositehim with his sworddrawnin his hand,and Joshuawentto him and saidto him, "Are you for us orfor our adversaries?"
but he receiveda rebukefor his owntransgression,[for] a mutedonkey,speakingwith a voiceof a man,restrainedthe madnessof the prophet.
Woeto them! For they have gonethe wayof Cain,and for paythey have rushed headlonginto the errorof Balaam,and perishedin the rebellionof Korah.
