"Whenyou pray,you are not to be likethe hypocrites;for they loveto standand prayin the synagoguesand on the streetcornerssothat they may be seenby men.TrulyI sayto you, they havetheir rewardin full.
Heedthe soundof my cryfor help,my Kingand my God,For to You I pray.
Eveningand morningand at noon,I will complainand murmur,And He will hearmy voice.
The sacrificeof the wickedis an abominationto the LORD,But the prayerof the uprightis His delight.
Everyonewho is proudin heartis an abominationto the LORD;Assuredly,he will not be unpunished.
"So when you spreadout your hands[in prayer], I will hideMy eyesfrom you; Yes,eventhoughyou multiplyprayers,I will not listen.Your handsare coveredwith blood.
Then you will callupon Me and comeand prayto Me, and I will listento you.
Now whenDanielknewthat the documentwas signed,he enteredhis house(now in his roofchamberhe had windowsopentowardJerusalem);and he continued kneelingon his kneesthreetimesa day,prayingand givingthanksbeforehis God,as he had been doingpreviously.
"And all thingsyou askin prayer,believing,you will receive."
"But woeto you, scribesand Pharisees,hypocrites,becauseyou shutoff the kingdomof heavenfrom people;for you do not enterin yourselves,nordo you allowthosewho are enteringto goin.
"But they doalltheir deedsto be noticedby men;for they broadentheir phylacteriesand lengthenthe tassels[of their garments].
"They lovethe place of honorat banquetsand the chief seatsin the synagogues,
"Bewareof practicingyour righteousnessbeforemento be noticedby them; otherwiseyou havenorewardwith your Fatherwhois in heaven.
"Wheneveryou fast,do not puton a gloomy faceas the hypocrites[do], for they neglecttheir appearancesothat they will be noticedby menwhen they are fasting.TrulyI sayto you, they havetheir rewardin full.
"Sowhenyou giveto the poor, do not sound a trumpetbeforeyou, as the hypocritesdoin the synagoguesand in the streets,sothat they may be honoredby men.TrulyI sayto you, they havetheir rewardin full.
"Thereforebeseechthe Lordof the harvestto sendout workersinto His harvest."
"Wheneveryou standpraying,forgive,ifyou haveanythingagainstanyone,sothat your Fatherwhois in heavenwill alsoforgiveyou your transgressions.
In His teachingHe was saying:"Bewareof the scribeswho liketo walk aroundin long robes,and [like] respectful greetingsin the market places,
"Woeto you Pharisees!For you lovethe chief seatsin the synagoguesand the respectful greetingsin the market places.
NowHe was tellingthem a parableto show that at all timesthey oughtto prayand not to lose heart,
"But the tax collector,standingsome distance away,was evenunwillingto liftup his eyesto heaven,but was beatinghis breast,saying,'God,be mercifulto me, the sinner!'
whodevourwidows'houses,and for appearance's sakeofferlongprayers.Thesewill receivegreatercondemnation."
"But woeto you who are rich,for you are receivingyour comfortin full.
"Untilnowyou have askedfor nothingin My name;askand you will receive,sothat your joymay be made full.
With allprayerand petitionprayat alltimesin the Spirit,and with thisin view,be on the alertwith allperseveranceand petitionfor allthe saints,
praywithout ceasing;
But He givesa greatergrace.Therefore[it] says,"GODIS OPPOSEDTO THE PROUD,BUT GIVESGRACETO THE HUMBLE."
