But they said,"Standaside."Furthermore, they said,"This onecamein as an alien,and alreadyhe is actinglike a judge;nowwe will treatyou worsethanthem." So they pressedhardagainst Lotand camenearto breakthe door.
and say,'Thussaysthe king,"Putthisman in prisonand feedhim sparinglywith breadand wateruntilI returnsafely."'"
Now Jehucameout to the servantsof his master,and one saidto him, "Is all well?Whydid thismadfellowcometo you?" And he saidto them, "You know[very well] the manand his talk."
Thussaysthe LORD,the Redeemerof Israel[and] its HolyOne,To the despisedOne, To the One abhorredby the nation,To the Servantof rulers,"Kingswill seeand arise,Princeswill also bowdown,Becauseof the LORDwhois faithful,the HolyOneof Israelwho has chosenYou."
He was despisedand forsakenof men,A manof sorrowsand acquaintedwith grief;And like one from whom men hidetheir faceHe was despised,and we did not esteemHim.
But when the Phariseesheard[this], they said,"This mancastsout demonsonlyby Beelzebulthe rulerof the demons."
The high prieststoodup and saidto Him, "Do You not answer?Whatis it that these menare testifying againstYou?"
When he had goneout to the gateway,another[servant-girl] sawhim and saidto thosewhowere there,"This manwas with Jesusof Nazareth."
and saying,"You who [are going to] destroythe templeand rebuildit in threedays,saveYourself!IfYou are the Sonof God,come downfrom the cross."
And he threwthe pieces of silverinto the temple sanctuaryand departed;and he went awayand hangedhimself.
"We heardHim say,I will destroythistemplemade with hands,and in threedaysI will buildanothermade without hands.'"
Thosepassingby were hurling abuseat Him, waggingtheir heads,and saying,"Ha!You who [are] [going to] destroythe templeand rebuildit in threedays,
And they beganto accuseHim, saying,"We foundthis manmisleadingour nationand forbiddingto paytaxesto Caesar,and sayingthat He Himselfis Christ,a King."
"We knowthat Godhas spokento Moses,but as for this man,we do not knowwhereHe is from."
And alsosomeof the Epicureanand Stoicphilosopherswere conversingwith him. Somewere saying,"Whatwould thisidle babblerwishto say?"Others,"He seemsto be a proclaimerof strangedeities,"--becausehe was preachingJesusand the resurrection.
saying,"This manpersuadesmento worshipGodcontraryto the law."
They listenedto him up to thisstatement,and [then] they raisedtheir voicesand said,"Awaywith such a fellowfrom the earth,for he should not be allowedto live!"
