Nowthey were allweepingand lamentingfor her; but He said,"Stopweeping,for she has not died,but is asleep."
But when Jesusheard[this], He said,"Thissicknessis not to endin death,but for the gloryof God,sothat the Sonof Godmay be glorifiedby it."
And followingHim was a largecrowdof the people,and of womenwhowere mourningand lamentingHim.
and say,'We played the flutefor you, and you did not dance;we sang a dirge,and you did not mourn.'
"I will pourout on the houseof Davidand on the inhabitantsof Jerusalem,the Spiritof graceand of supplication,so that they will lookon Me whomthey have pierced;and they will mournfor Him, as one mournsfor an onlyson,and they will weepbitterlyoverHim like the bitterweepingovera firstborn.
The kingwas deeplymovedand wentup to the chamberoverthe gateand wept.And thushe saidas he walked,"O my sonAbsalom,my son,my sonAbsalom!WouldI had diedinsteadof you, O Absalom,my son,my son!"
And to the eyesof the sonsof Israelthe appearanceof the gloryof the LORDwas like a consumingfireon the mountaintop.
Sarahdiedin Kiriath-arba(that is, Hebron)in the landof Canaan;and Abrahamwentin to mournfor Sarahand to weepfor her.
When He cameto the house,He did not allowanyoneto enterwith Him, exceptPeterand Johnand James,and the girl'sfatherand mother.
And they [began] laughingat Him, knowingthat she had died.
And allthe crowdswho came togetherfor thisspectacle,when they observedwhat had happened,[began] to return,beatingtheir breasts.
