and Ishmaiahthe Gibeonite,a mightymanamong the thirty,and overthe thirty.Then Jeremiah,Jahaziel,Johanan,Jozabadthe Gederathite,
Then Solomonand allthe assemblywith him wentto the highplacewhichwas at Gibeon,for God'stentof meetingwas there,whichMosesthe servantof the LORDhad madein the wilderness.
Now in the sameyear,in the beginningof the reignof Zedekiahkingof Judah,in the fourthyear,in the fifthmonth,Hananiahthe sonof Azzur,the prophet,whowas from Gibeon,spoketo me in the houseof the LORDin the presenceof the priestsand allthe people,saying,
Now it cameabout when Adoni-zedekkingof Jerusalemheardthat Joshuahad capturedAi,and had utterlydestroyedit (justas he had doneto Jerichoand its king,sohe had doneto Aiand its king),and that the inhabitantsof Gibeonhad madepeacewith Israeland were withintheir land,
that he fearedgreatly,becauseGibeon[was] a greatcity,like oneof the royalcities,and becauseit was greaterthanAi,and allits men[were] mighty.
Now JoshuacapturedMakkedahon that day,and struckit and its kingwith the edgeof the sword;he utterlydestroyedit and everypersonwhowas in it. He leftnosurvivor.Thus he didto the kingof Makkedahjustas he had doneto the kingof Jericho.
The LORDgaveit alsowith its kinginto the handsof Israel,and he struckit and everypersonwho[was] in it with the edgeof the sword.He leftnosurvivorin it. Thus he didto its kingjustas he had doneto the kingof Jericho.
There was not a citywhichmadepeacewith the sonsof Israelexceptthe Hiviteslivingin Gibeon;they tookthem allin battle.
