knowwith certaintythat the LORDyour Godwill not continueto drivethesenationsout from beforeyou; but they will be a snareand a trapto you, and a whipon your sidesand thornsin your eyes,untilyou perishfrom offthisgoodlandwhichthe LORDyour Godhas givenyou.
For whenSolomonwas old,his wivesturnedhis heartawayafterothergods;and his heartwas not whollydevotedto the LORDhis God,as the heartof Davidhis father[had been].
So the LORDwas veryangrywith Israeland removedthem from His sight;nonewas leftexceptthe tribeof Judah.
The LORDrejectedallthe descendantsof Israeland afflictedthem and gavethem into the handof plunderers,untilHe had castthem out of His sight.
Then the kingof Babylonstruckthem down and putthem to deathat Riblahin the landof Hamath.So Judahwas ledawayinto exilefrom its land.
Then allthe people,bothsmalland great,and the captainsof the forcesaroseand wentto Egypt;for they were afraidof the Chaldeans.
May their tablebeforethem becomea snare;And when they are in peace,[may it become] a trap.
Pharaoh'sservantssaidto him, "Howlongwill thisman be a snareto us? Letthe mengo,that they may servethe LORDtheir God.Do you not realizethat Egyptis destroyed?"
"They shall not livein your land,becausethey will make you sinagainst Me; for [if] you servetheir gods,it will surelybe a snareto you."
"Watchyourself that you makenocovenantwith the inhabitantsof the landinto whichyou are going,orit will becomea snarein your midst.
and you might takesomeof his daughtersfor your sons,and his daughtersmight playthe harlotwith their godsand cause your sons[also] to playthe harlotwith their gods.
"And there will be nomorefor the houseof Israela pricklingbrieror a painfulthornfrom anyroundaboutthem who scornedthem; then they will knowthat I am the LordGOD."
But ifyou do not driveout the inhabitantsof the landfrom beforeyou, then it shall comeabout that those whomyou letremainof them [will become] as pricksin your eyesand as thornsin your sides,and they will troubleyou in the landin whichyou live.
and they will fallby the edgeof the sword,and will be led captiveinto allthe nations;and Jerusalemwill be trampled underfoot by the Gentilesuntilthe timesof the Gentilesare fulfilled.
and the LORDuprootedthem from their landin angerand in furyand in greatwrath,and castthem into anotherland,as [it is] thisday.'
I declareto you todaythat you shall surelyperish.You will not prolong[your] daysin the landwhereyou are crossingthe Jordanto enterand possessit.
I callheavenand earthto witnessagainst you today,that you will surelyperishquicklyfrom the landwhereyou are goingoverthe Jordanto possessit. You shall not livelongon it, but will be utterlydestroyed.
"You shall consumeallthe peopleswhomthe LORDyour Godwill deliverto you; your eyeshall not pitythem, norshall you servetheir gods,for that [would be] a snareto you.
and they may come to their senses[and escape] from the snareof the devil,having been held captiveby him to do his will.
I alsowill nolongerdriveout beforethem anyof the nationswhichJoshualeftwhen he died,
