And the kingof Jerichosent[word] to Rahab,saying,"Bringout the menwho have cometo you, whohave enteredyour house,for they have cometo searchout allthe land."
Now it was about threemonthslater that Judahwas informed,"Your daughter-in-lawTamarhas playedthe harlot,and behold,she is alsowith childby harlotry."Then Judahsaid,"Bringher out and let her be burned!"
"But we saidto him, 'We are honestmen;we are not spies.
the princesof the Ammonitessaidto Hanuntheir lord,"Do you thinkthat Davidis honoringyour fatherbecausehe has sentconsolersto you? Has Davidnot senthis servantsto you in orderto searchthe city,to spyit out and overthrowit?"
Then Absalom'sservantscameto the womanat the houseand said,"Whereare Ahimaazand Jonathan?"And the womansaidto them, "They have crossedthe brookof water."And whenthey searchedand could not find[them], they returnedto Jerusalem.
But the princesof the sonsof Ammonsaidto Hanun,"Do you thinkthat Davidis honoringyour father,in that he has sentcomfortersto you? Have not his servantscometo you to searchand to overthrowand to spyout the land?"
"For the wickedis reservedfor the dayof calamity;They will be ledforthat the dayof fury.
"Bringthe one who has cursedoutsidethe camp,and let allwho heardhim laytheir handson his head;then let allthe congregationstonehim.
Pilatecameout againand saidto them, "Behold,I am bringingHim out to you sothat you may knowthat I findnoguiltin Him."
When he had seizedhim, he puthim in prison,deliveringhim to foursquadsof soldiersto guardhim, intendingafterthe Passoverto bringhim out before the people.
On the verynightwhenHerodwas aboutto bring him forward,Peterwas sleepingbetweentwosoldiers,boundwith twochains,and guardsin frontof the doorwere watching overthe prison.
They didso,and broughtthesefivekingsout to him from the cave:the kingof Jerusalem,the kingof Hebron,the kingof Jarmuth,the kingof Lachish,[and] the kingof Eglon.
It was toldthe kingof Jericho,saying,"Behold,menfrom the sonsof Israelhave comeheretonightto searchout the land."
But the womanhad takenthe twomenand hiddenthem, and she said,"Yes,the mencameto me, but I did not knowwherethey were from.
He saidto her, "Standin the doorwayof the tent,and it shall be ifanyonecomesand inquiresof you, and says,'Is thereanyonehere?'that you shall say,'No.'"
