"Nowtherefore, pleaseswearto me by the LORD,sinceI have dealtkindlywith you, that you alsowill dealkindlywith my father'shousehold,and giveme a pledgeof truth,
nowtherefore, swearto me hereby Godthat you will not dealfalselywith me or with my offspringor with my posterity,but according to the kindnessthat I have shownto you, you shall showto me and to the landin whichyou have sojourned."
and I will make you swearby the LORD,the Godof heavenand the Godof earth,that you shall not takea wifefor my sonfrom the daughtersof the Canaanites,amongwhomI live,
So the servantplacedhis handunderthe thighof Abrahamhis master,and sworeto him concerningthismatter.
"Onlykeepme in mind whenit goeswellwith you, and pleasedome a kindnessby mentioningme to Pharaohand getme out of thishouse.
He alsorebelledagainst KingNebuchadnezzarwhohad made him swear[allegiance] by God.But he stiffenedhis neckand hardenedhis heartagainstturningto the LORDGodof Israel.
"For howcanI endureto seethe calamitywhichwill befallmy people,and howcanI endureto seethe destructionof my kindred?"
The bloodshall be a signfor you on the houseswhereyou live; and when I seethe bloodI will passoveryou, and noplaguewill befallyou to destroy[you] when I strikethe landof Egypt.
"Then ifthey will reallylearnthe waysof My people,to swearby My name,'As the LORDlives,'evenas they taughtMy peopleto swearby Baal,they will be builtup in the midstof My people.
Nowhe who was betrayingHim had giventhem a signal,saying,"WhomeverI kiss,He is the one; seizeHim and lead Him awayunder guard."
without understanding,untrustworthy,unloving,unmerciful;
But ifanyonedoes not providefor his own,and especiallyfor those of his household,he has deniedthe faithand is worsethan an unbeliever.
For judgment[will be] mercilessto one who has shownnomercy;mercytriumphs overjudgment.
and sparemy fatherand my motherand my brothersand my sisters,with allwhobelong to them, and deliverour livesfrom death."
unless,when we comeinto the land,you tiethiscordof scarletthreadin the windowthrough whichyou letus down,and gatherto yourself into the houseyour fatherand your motherand your brothersand allyour father'shousehold.
"It shall comeabout that anyonewhogoesout of the doorsof your houseinto the street,his blood[shall be] on his own head,and we [shall be] free;but anyonewhois with you in the house,his blood[shall be] on our headifa handis [laid] on him.
Joshuasaidto the twomenwho had spiedout the land,"Gointo the harlot'shouseand bringthe womanand allshe has out of there,as you have swornto her."
Joshuamadepeacewith them and madea covenantwith them, to let them live;and the leadersof the congregationswore[an oath] to them.
The spiessawa mancomingout of the cityand they saidto him, "Pleaseshowus the entranceto the cityand we will treatyou kindly."
Then Davidsaidto him, "Will you bringme downto thisband?"And he said,"Swearto me by Godthat you will not killme or deliverme into the handsof my master,and I will bringyou downto thisband."
