and he enteredinto the Praetoriumagainand saidto Jesus,"Whereare You from?" But Jesusgavehim noanswer.
He was oppressedand He was afflicted,Yet He did not openHis mouth;Like a lambthat is ledto slaughter,And like a sheepthat is silentbeforeits shearers,So He did not openHis mouth.
But Jesuskept silent.And the high priestsaidto Him, "I adjureYou by the livingGod,that You tellus whetherYou are the Christ,the Sonof God."
Thenthe soldiersof the governortookJesusinto the Praetoriumand gatheredthe whole[Roman] cohortaroundHim.
And he questionedHim at somelength;but He answeredhim nothing.
Thenthey ledJesusfrom Caiaphasinto the Praetorium,and it was early;and they themselvesdid not enterinto the Praetoriumsothat they would not be defiled,but might eatthe Passover.
ThereforePilateenteredagaininto the Praetorium,and summonedJesusand saidto Him, "Are You the Kingof the Jews?"
Jesusanswered,"Are you sayingthison your own initiative,ordid otherstellyou aboutMe?"
ThereforePilatesaidto Him, "SoYou are a king?"Jesusanswered,"You say[correctly] that I ama king.For thisI have been born,and for thisI have comeinto the world,to testifyto the truth.Everyonewho is of the truthhearsMy voice."
SoPilatesaidto Him, "You do not speakto me? Do You not knowthat I haveauthorityto releaseYou, and I haveauthorityto crucifyYou?"
ThereforewhenPilateheardthisstatement,he was [even] moreafraid;
Jesusansweredand saidto them, "Even ifI testifyaboutMyself,My testimonyis true,for I knowwhereI camefrom and whereI am going;but you do not knowwhereI comefrom orwhereI am going.
in no wayalarmedby [your] opponents--whichis a signof destructionfor them, but of salvationfor you, and that [too], from God.
Then the womancameand toldher husband,saying,"A manof Godcameto me and his appearancewas like the appearanceof the angelof God,veryawesome.And I did not askhim wherehe [came] from, nordid he tellme his name.
