"But the Helper,the HolySpirit,whomthe Fatherwill sendin My name,He will teachyou allthings,and bring to your remembranceallthat I saidto you.
Do not castme awayfrom Your presenceAnd do not takeYour HolySpiritfrom me.
"Allyour sonswill be taughtof the LORD;And the well-beingof your sonswill be great.
But they rebelledAnd grievedHis HolySpirit;Therefore He turnedHimself to become their enemy,He foughtagainst them.
Nowthe birthof JesusChristwas as follows:when His motherMaryhad been betrothedto Joseph,beforethey came togethershe was foundto be with childby the HolySpirit.
But when he had consideredthis,behold,an angelof the Lordappearedto him in a dream,saying,"Joseph,sonof David,do not be afraidto takeMaryas your wife;for the Child whohas been conceivedin her is of the HolySpirit.
"Gothereforeand make disciplesof allthe nations,baptizingthem in the nameof the Fatherand the Sonand the HolySpirit,
"As for me, I baptizeyou with waterfor repentance,but He who is comingafterme is mightierthan I, and I amnot fitto removeHis sandals;He will baptizeyou with the HolySpiritand fire.
"Davidhimselfsaidin the HolySpirit,THE LORDSAIDTO MY LORD,"SITAT MY RIGHT HAND,UNTILI PUTYOUR ENEMIESBENEATHYOUR FEET."'
"Whenthey arrestyou and handyou over, do not worry beforehandabout whatyou are to say,but saywhateveris givenyou in that hour;for it is not you who speak,but [it is] the HolySpirit.
"For he will be greatin the sightof the Lord;and he will drinknowineorliquor,and he will be filledwith the HolySpiritwhile yetin his mother'swomb.
The angelansweredand saidto her, "The HolySpiritwill comeupon you, and the powerof the Most Highwill overshadowyou; and for that reasonthe holyChildshall be calledthe Sonof God.
WhenElizabethheardMary'sgreeting,the babyleapedin her womb;and Elizabethwas filledwith the HolySpirit.
And his fatherZachariaswas filledwith the HolySpirit,and prophesied,saying:
"Ifyou then,beingevil,know howto givegoodgiftsto your children,how muchmorewill [your] heavenlyFathergivethe HolySpiritto thosewho askHim?"
And there was a manin Jerusalemwhosenamewas Simeon;and thismanwas righteousand devout,lookingfor the consolationof Israel;and the HolySpiritwas upon him.
"And behold,I am sending forththe promiseof My Fatherupon you; but you are to stayin the cityuntilyou are clothedwith powerfrom on high."
and the HolySpiritdescendedupon Him in bodilyformlikea dove,and a voicecameout of heaven,"You are My belovedSon,in You I am well-pleased."
"I did not recognizeHim, but He who sentme to baptizein watersaidto me, 'He upon whomyou seethe Spiritdescendingand remainingupon Him, thisis the One who baptizesin the HolySpirit.'
These thingsHis disciplesdid not understandat the first;but whenJesuswas glorified,thenthey rememberedthat these thingswere writtenof Him, and that they had donethese thingsto Him.
"I will askthe Father,and He will giveyou anotherHelper,that He may be with you forever;
"These thingsI have spokento you while abidingwith you.
"Whenthe Helpercomes,whomI will sendto you from the Father,[that is] the Spiritof truthwhoproceedsfrom the Father,He will testifyaboutMe,
"But I tellyou the truth,it is to your advantagethat I goaway;for ifI do not go away,the Helperwill not cometo you; but ifI go,I will sendHim to you.
SowhenHe was raisedfrom the dead,His disciplesrememberedthat He saidthis;and they believedthe Scriptureand the wordwhichJesushad spoken.
And when He had saidthis,He breathedon them and saidto them, "Receivethe HolySpirit.
"It is writtenin the prophets,AND THEY SHALL ALLBE TAUGHTOF GOD.'Everyonewho has heardand learnedfrom the Father,comesto Me.
But thisHe spokeof the Spirit,whomthosewho believedin Him were to receive;for the Spiritwas not yet[given], becauseJesuswas not yetglorified.
untilthe daywhen He was takenup [to heaven], after He had by the HolySpiritgiven ordersto the apostleswhomHe had chosen.
Gathering them together,He commandedthem not to leaveJerusalem,but to waitfor what the Fatherhad promised,"Which,"[He said], "you heardof from Me;
but you will receivepowerwhen the HolySpirithas comeupon you; and you shall be My witnessesbothin Jerusalem,and in allJudeaand Samaria,and evento the remotest partof the earth."
"And I rememberedthe wordof the Lord,howHe used to say,Johnbaptizedwith water,but you will be baptizedwith the HolySpirit.'
While they were ministeringto the Lordand fasting,the HolySpiritsaid,"Set apartfor Me Barnabasand Saulfor the workto whichI have calledthem."
So,being sentout by the HolySpirit,they went downto Seleuciaand from therethey sailedto Cyprus.
"For it seemed goodto the HolySpiritand to us to layupon you nogreaterburdenthantheseessentials:
"And God,who knows the heart,testifiedto them givingthem the HolySpirit,justas He alsodid to us;
They passed throughthe Phrygianand Galatianregion,having been forbiddenby the HolySpiritto speakthe wordin Asia;
"Thereforehaving been exaltedto the right handof God,and having receivedfrom the Fatherthe promiseof the HolySpirit,He has poured forththiswhichyou bothseeand hear.
And they were allfilledwith the HolySpiritand beganto speakwith othertongues,as the Spiritwas givingthem utterance.
"Be on guardfor yourselvesand for allthe flock,amongwhichthe HolySpirithas madeyou overseers,to shepherdthe churchof GodwhichHe purchasedwith His ownblood.
"In everythingI showedyou that by working hardin this manneryou musthelpthe weakand rememberthe wordsof the LordJesus,that He Himselfsaid,'It is moreblessedto givethanto receive.'"
And when they did not agreewith one another,they [began] leavingafter Paulhad spokenone[parting] word,"The HolySpiritrightlyspokethroughIsaiahthe prophetto your fathers,
But Petersaid,"Ananias,whyhas Satanfilledyour heartto lieto the HolySpiritand to keep back[some] of the priceof the land?
"You men who are stiff-neckedand uncircumcisedin heartand earsare alwaysresistingthe HolySpirit;you are doing justas your fathersdid.
But beingfullof the HolySpirit,he gazed intentlyinto heavenand sawthe gloryof God,and Jesusstandingat the right handof God;
for the kingdomof Godis not eatingand drinking,but righteousnessand peaceand joyin the HolySpirit.
Nowmay the Godof hopefillyou with alljoyand peacein believing,sothat you will aboundin hopeby the powerof the HolySpirit.
to be a ministerof ChristJesusto the Gentiles,ministering as a priestthe gospelof God,sothat [my] offeringof the Gentilesmay becomeacceptable,sanctifiedby the HolySpirit.
and hopedoes not disappoint,becausethe loveof Godhas been pouredout withinour heartsthroughthe HolySpiritwho was givento us.
ThereforeI make knownto you that noonespeakingby the Spiritof Godsays,"Jesusis accursed";and no onecansay,"Jesusis Lord,"exceptby the HolySpirit.
Ordo you not knowthat your bodyis a templeof the HolySpiritwho is in you, whomyou havefrom God,and that you are not your own?
The graceof the LordJesusChrist,and the loveof God,and the fellowshipof the HolySpirit,be with you all.
in purity,in knowledge,in patience,in kindness,in the HolySpirit,in genuinelove,
In Him, you also,after listeningto the messageof truth,the gospelof your salvation--having alsobelieved,you were sealedin Him with the HolySpiritof promise,
that the Godof our LordJesusChrist,the Fatherof glory,may giveto you a spiritof wisdomand of revelationin the knowledgeof Him.
Do not grievethe HolySpiritof God,by whomyou were sealedfor the dayof redemption.
So,he who rejects[this] is not rejectingmanbut the Godwho givesHis HolySpiritto you.
Guard,throughthe HolySpiritwho dwellsin us, the treasurewhich has been entrustedto [you].
He savedus, not on the basisof deedswhichwe have donein righteousness,but accordingto His mercy,by the washingof regenerationand renewingby the HolySpirit,
And the HolySpiritalsotestifiesto us; for aftersaying,
Godalso testifyingwith them, bothby signsand wondersand by variousmiraclesand by giftsof the HolySpiritaccordingto His own will.
Therefore,justas the HolySpiritsays,"TODAYIFYOU HEARHIS VOICE,
The HolySpirit[is] signifyingthis,that the wayinto the holy placehas not yetbeen disclosedwhile the outertabernacleis stillstanding,
It was revealedto them that they were not servingthemselves,but you, in these thingswhichnowhave been announcedto you throughthosewho preached the gospelto you by the HolySpiritsentfrom heaven--things into whichangelslongto look.
for noprophecywas evermadeby an act of humanwill,but menmovedby the HolySpiritspokefrom God.
But you havean anointingfrom the Holy One,and you allknow.
As for you, the anointingwhichyou receivedfrom Him abidesin you, and you havenoneedfor anyoneto teachyou; but as His anointingteachesyou aboutall things,and is true and is not a lie,and justas it has taughtyou, you abidein Him.
For thereare threethat testify:
But you, beloved,buildingyourselvesup on your mostholyfaith,prayingin the HolySpirit,
He who hasan ear,let him hearwhatthe Spiritsaysto the churches.He who overcomeswill not be hurtby the seconddeath.'
