"For he has oppressed[and] forsakenthe poor;He has seizeda housewhich he has not built.
"So the helplesshashope,And unrighteousnessmust shutits mouth.
He has givenfreelyto the poor,His righteousnessenduresforever;His hornwill be exaltedin honor.
My eyesfail[with longing] for Your salvationAnd for Your righteousword.
My eyesfail[with longing] for Your word,While I say,"Whenwill You comfortme?"
I am wearywith my crying;my throatis parched;My eyesfailwhile I waitfor my God.
"You shall not afflictanywidowor orphan.
Do not robthe poorbecausehe is poor,Or crushthe afflictedat the gate;
She extendsher handto the poor,And she stretchesout her handsto the needy.
So as to deprivethe needyof justiceAnd robthe poorof My peopleof [their] rights,So that widowsmay be their spoilAnd that they may plunderthe orphans.
"Like a swallow,[like] a crane,soI twitter;I moanlike a dove;My eyeslookwistfullyto the heights;O Lord,I am oppressed,be my security.
Yetour eyesfailed,[Looking] for helpwas useless;In our watchingwe have watchedFor a nationthat could not save.
or oppressanyone,or retaina pledge,or commitrobbery,[but] he giveshis breadto the hungryand coversthe nakedwith clothing,
Now in casea countrymanof yours becomespoorand his meanswith regardto you falter,then you are to sustainhim, like a strangeror a sojourner,that he may livewith you.
["Woeto you, scribesand Pharisees,hypocrites,becauseyou devourwidows'houses,and for a pretenseyou makelongprayers;thereforeyou will receivegreatercondemnation].
"In the same mannerthe one who [had received] the two[talents] gainedtwomore.
and longingto be fedwith the [crumbs] which were fallingfrom the rich man'stable;besides,eventhe dogswere comingand lickinghis sores.
And in the proportionthat anyof the discipleshad means,eachof them determinedto send[a contribution] for the reliefof the brethrenlivingin Judea.
[They] only[asked] us to rememberthe poor--the very thingI alsowas eagerto do.
"Your sonsand your daughtersshall be givento anotherpeople,while your eyeslookon and yearnfor them continually;but therewill be nothingyou can do.
Pureand undefiledreligionin the sightof [our] Godand Fatheris this:to visitorphansand widowsin their distress,[and] to keeponeselfunstainedby the world.
